Point by point - to put this issue to rest.
Please... Do not castrate me or others that do not follow your or your club friends ideals ..(and at the risk of being "suspended") I have to say the following :
1)This was just a group of fave pic of members, not a calender to be put out for sale or profit and if there was an issue with copyright point it out before ppl post.Don't threaten with suspension after the fact.
It does not matter if the calendar is for profit or not. Pictures are the property of the person who takes them. That person / company can grant rights as to how the picture is used. Whether it can be used by someone's personal use, used by a for-profit, or non-profit purpose.
It is no different than songs or software or other intellectual property licenses.
I am sorry but I think this is too much "Police" .
Mr Slingshot I do not know if you own or run this site ,(its great by the way, members do that you know), but some temperance and liberalism please.
It is the members and drivers of these cars that make this groupshine and argument or disagrement is healthy.
Why would you threaten free speach in a group of people that are free spirits and love 7,s. By the way, ever notice how angry some members got on here since Obama got in , little cryptic messages etc? ( I am not political at all on here but look at many of the messages, partic from mo fo and his posse, woops that includes you right.
Yes, I started this site, and still run it. However, I treat it as the property of the club, so it's not "my site".
Sorry to burst your bubble, but "free speech" does not apply
. This is a privately owned property. Any member should feel free to register another domain, starting a site, and exercising free speech on that site.
My job as the admin is to keep a friendly environment. From time to time that requires stepping into a discussion that spirals out of the norm a little to keep things running smoothly. I exercised "censorship" a few times in the political threads too.
Nobody was rude or agressive or nasty or used cuss words or slandered,;damn for the internet it was a walk in the woods in springtime, it was just open discussion , please do not stop that with threats that their points of view may cause expulsion.
hmmm... before I posted my warning message, I had to edit "a$$ol" out of someone's post. To me that constitues "rude or aggressive".
By the way, with regard to the "legality of pics and copyright" what is the deal if someone takes a pic of my car.. it happens all the time, what if any one sees a car or building or whatever they are looking at through the lens... they take a picture.. think about it : everything we see belongs to somebody, but most of us share ; this argument was started by a pro photographer... I understand him looking out for himself, I really do, but come on.
OK, I'll play along. Someone takes a pic of your car. They own the pic. In most cases, they don't exercise their right to protect their work and allow people to share it freely. In some cases, they ask that you give them credit for the work while you share it with others. In other cases, they would like to make a living by taking pics.
As the subject of the picture, you may have some privacy concerns... more legal stuff over my head, but I believe as long as you're in the public view... Try googling "street level maps" and "blurring" for more on the topic.
By the way how can a member set their own password ,is that possible at all or is it only the one that is issued, does that mean that admin can access all of a member's account at will? ?
You can set your own password. Go under My Profile / Edit Profile, then change it.
As admin I do have access to the entire database but I have better things to do with my life than look in people's accounts.
Hope this post will not be censored too.
K, I took the time to add

"I was gonna post a pic of my car, but every one of them I found shows the car in some state of disassembly" - Mazda, has your car ever been 100% assembled???
Bruce :7drive:
Yes, once. That's how I know it's a seven

I was gonna post a pic of my car, but every one of them I found shows the car in some state of disassembly :banghead:

any more comments on the permission subject in this or other threads will get deleted. Do it a couple of times and earn a suspension.
We are not going to knowingly ignore ownership rights of media owners. END OF STORY.

and here's the internet in full display again
edit: and for a picture, SteveT's 1st 7. the yellow one that had the yellow flowers in the background was an awesome picture!
Totally agree. Steve has several really nice pics.
The yellow one, the one at Skyline that used to be the forum banner, one at Snowshoe of just the emblem with frost melting off it.

Yes, one thread was enough for that discussion :leaving:

Jon/Mazda - I'd love to see the masterpiece.
If it wasn't this particular one, it was very similar. You get the idea. I believe the thread was about how to remove cats from the car:

I still can't believe that Al sold that car.
Tom
Me neither. ANY day now, Morgan and Al will come clean on this hoax
-
alright, everyone has stated their position. facts are facts, the rest are...
All Martin needs is permission from the person who took the photo. If the photo is yours, then grant it and be done. If not, ask the person who took it. Pretty simple. Otherwise, say you don't feel like asking the photographer, and it'll be excluded.

The pic I posted from the 777 Tail of The Dragon USA7s cruise was purchased from Killboy.com, who included a copyright notice on the cd they supplied. It grants private use rights, but asks they be contacted for commercial use. I contacted them and they were happy to grant approval for the useage on the web site and on a calendar, as long as they are credited with the pic.
Thanks Jerry,
I think your post, as well as Mopho's, answer the question. If the pic is from a third party, permission must be granted before it becomes a part of the calendar.

very nice collection.
Those wheels are BBS, and the similarity to the SSR wheels is
I had a hard time finding stuff for those wheels, but finally did. If you ever need to change anything on them, you won't find them in any BBS distributor. Call BBS racing directly. Have any casting numbers handy, as well as the number of bolts that hold the wheels together. Using that info, they were able to identify the wheels.

Happy new year everyone! I'm about to jump in my warm Yukon and go over and see Dermott at the starting point of his "Frozen Nut Rally". It's 24 degrees now
-
car looks great. Wheels look awesome.

Mazda is a long lost brother?
I remember the masterpiece you're referring to, but couldn't find it
-
Seasons greetings everyone,
I wanted to extend an invite to all (who are not hung over and have been to bed), to join me for a New Years day drive. The 5th annual "Frozen Nuts Rally" is for those who appreciate an invigorating drive in the country to welcome in the New Year. For details go to www.octaneclub.com and let me know if you can make it. This is a weather sensitive run, ie if it snows or rains the drive is off but we can still meet for lunch, if there is sufficient interest. Additional points are given to those in the most unsuitable car for the day
(7 owners are at a major advantage here!).
Thanks.
Dermot.
should i put my sides on or not?
wife is working the night before and the night after, but if I can find babysitting, i'll be there.
-
Mine is sitting in the far bay of the garage, and I have NO time to work on it
-
as I'm considering what to do with my hood / scuttle / nose, I'm toying with going with a lower profile rad like the ultralite. Thanks for all the info guys. Kevin, I may take you up on that offer down the road.
-
Can someone tell me what the dimensions are?
Are they custom or from a production car?
Also, where are the inlet / outlet located?
And, how much they cost?
-
Although this one is INFINITELY funnier
-
That is impressive. In 10 years that will be a mid 9 sec run.
Is that because NHRA will keep shortening the track? :jester:
-
I had seen that. It is pretty impressive.
But 12's at 107 doesn't give me much worries
Besides, I can always invite him to a track that requires 60 miles of driving to get there
There are some REALLY SCARY FAST electric drag bikes out there
-
I finally had a cow :willy:

I'm migrating our .org and .com domain names to the new hosting provider (prior to today, they were being redirected from the old host).
If you experience any problems, usa7s.net should still work - yes, I do realize if you experience any problems, you won't see this post
Wish me luck...
