  1. Here is a link, it is long but worth it. An SCCA E Production race that went to grid in the dry and it began raining on the grid so the field was on slicks in the rain! The RX-8 and Caterham you see were 8 seconds a lap faster than the next car in the 32 car field! This folks is car control! Oh the RX-8 driven by a 21 year old and the Caterham driven by an 18 year old.
  2. Guys, thanks so much!
  3. I did a search for the clutch but did not see any clear information on this so here goes; I have a 2000 Caterham 7 with a Ford Focus engine and T-9 gearbox, I need a new clutch but can't find any info on what make, model and year car our pressure plate and disc come from. Oh, I have a Fidenza flywheel, anyone know what to order?
  4. My son's first race in a borrowed car, it was a very wet race but he won both days.
  5. My son racing at Eagle's Canyon in the car that is now lime green and black and now number 24. He won EP both days.
  6. Me racing at Eagle's Canyon, got second both days, second to another Caterham!
  7. The Yellow car repainted to my son's specifications!

Pictures of my Caterham 7 SV and the E Production Caterham 7 my son and I races in SCCA, before the lime green paint job!
  9. Richard and Tony, Do you have a shop where you do work, and develop products? Look, you carry a lot of the unique items a lot of us use on our 7s, it would be good to know if you have an establishment and actually work on the cars and have a hands on knowledge.
  10. If you have the time, go inspect the car and find someone from the forum locally to go with you. Is it a runner? What shape is the engine and trans in? Chassis damage that has been repaired?
  11. Welcome, you are in for the time of your life! Which engine did you get?
  12. "look ahead" +1000 !
  13. I use Hoosier A6s and run 24psi cold with a target pressure of 28 hot, I have tried a lot of pressures in A6s and R6s and find high twenties to be best.
  14. The big difference I see with the car companies who have survived F1 departures and Caterham is that the total asset value of Caterham is likely less than one year's budget for a Tier 2 or 3 F1 team. And most of the other car companies exited by choice, again if Caterham F1 gets in financial trouble, Caterham Car's asset value wouldn't do them much good! If the other car companies teams got in trouble they could write a check. Yea, the Air Asia thing is another aspect of the financials I did not even think about! Damn, now I am even more worried.
  15. As an owner of two Caterhams I think it is a really cool connection also, but I'm worried. Now Caterham Cars is tied to the fate of an F1 team and except for a very few long standing teams the life span of an F1 team is short, very short. So if the team folds does the car company? It the team is sold to say Monster Energy Drink is the car company sold also? Just a little worried that a sound business like Caterham Cars is now connected with a notoriously fickled business like F1.
  16. Reminds me of my race last weekend at Eagle's Canyon, due to lack of entries they combined the under 2 liter production cars with the over 2 liter. It was great, I got to run with some ex-TransAm cars and a lot of V8s. These guys would barnstorm me (us there were 3 Caterhams) in the straights and pay the price in braking and in the turns! It was a case of taking advantage in the turns or loosing out to the big bore crowd.
  17. The Caterham's run in E Production, which is a huge variety of cars. There are Lotus 7s that run the F Production , but the Zetec Caterhams run in EP.
  18. OK, at least three Caterhams will be racing at Eagle's Canyon this weekend in E Production, and two of the drivers are regulars on this forum. We will be qualifying at around 8:30am both Saturday and Sunday and racing around 1:00pm both days. If your in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area you should come by, weather looks great. My son holds the track record for EP, driving a Caterham, so they are very rapid around this track.
  19. We had the same water temp issue on the race car, turns out one of the connectors on the temp sensor was under a little tension and was making and breaking contact. Once I gave the wire some slack and tie wrapped it all was fine.
  20. Good catch Paul! Bet its a little cooler in Juneau than at home.
  21. Oh great,,, another top 100 cars of all time, and by no less an authority than Edmonds! Wow, I can sure see why Edmonds is the "go to" car authority! Hey it includes the; Jeep Wagoneer, BMW 7 Series, 1981 IROC-Z, Porsche Panamera, Nissan Leaf, I could just keep listing all of the great cars, but you get the point. Although I do agree with the Lotus 7 being in there!
  22. I think I get more thumbs up from Porsche drivers than any others, BMW drivers seem to like the car a lot also.
