  1. Isn't that a coincidence the same Bubba was sent to the middle east to do some pipeline work out in the middle of the desert, those of you who have been there know that you live in a temporary encampment. So, after a few weeks of nothing but work and sleep Bubba ask someone who has been around for a long time what they do for fun. The old timer says that there is a camel out behind the tents and most of them use the camel. Well, Bubba is disgusted and says that is repulsive and would never do that. After a few more weeks Bubba is looking quite haggard and inquires about the camel, the old timer says it is still there and available. In desperation Bubba disappears behind the tents. The next morning the old timer sees a rather chipper looking Bubba and ask if he used the camel, Bubba says he sure did and you know what, relations with a camel aren't half bad! The Old timer says what the heck are you talking about we use the camel to ride into town and to have fun! Anyone else know this Bubba fellow? I think Jeff Foxworthy has mentioned him a few times in his stand-up routine.
  2. I agree with John, any of the books by Carroll Smith are very good. I would add to that a book that has been around since 1981 and still remains one of the best books for understanding and tuning suspension, "How to Make Your Car Handle" by Fred Puhn. It dispels many myths and has a lot of real world examples and calculations.
  3. 1987 911 yep, he was in oversteer heaven (or hell depending on how you like to drive) but what amazes me is driving like that at the Ring with NO HELMET.
  4. The ACB10s DO NOT like camber, you should set it at 0.25. Also, and maybe this is true with every race tire, ACB10s seem to get very hard quickly and that is it, forget doing laps with them. I used ACB10s for track days for a couple of years but have since changed my camber and stick with redials now. Your camber settings look good for radials, I would stick with those. I have experience with Hoosier A6 autocross tires and like them, I get on the order of 80 - 90 runs on them and that is terrific. About half way through their life I do start using Formula V traction treatment, the stuff really works!
  5. Nice! Chrome orange?
  6. It gets too cold for a 7, no one ever told me!
  7. I will buy two mens watches! Just let me know how to pay,,, Pay Pal??
  8. Yep, that is the cam cover I have also.
  9. I would love to replace my Zetec cover with one of these. Count me in. Jim
  10. Hey, a track day at Roebling,,, count me in!
  11. Oh yea, I went 7 for 7 this season in my 7. 7 events 7 TDDs and some serious competition can out for 5 of the events, national class SCCA cars, and some BIG horsepower versus my puny 150 - 160 hp car. The last two events were very fast courses that I thought the big hp guys would get me on, as it turns out the spread was even bigger than on technical courses, go figure.
  12. Athens7 took his first autocross run in his 7, I think it is safe to say, he is seriously hooked, he has the 7 monkey on his back!
  13. I have had a PC-545 for about a year now and it has worked fine. Multiple starts, sitting 3 or 4 weeks etc. The Odyssey site list it as a motorcycle/snowmobile battery. The weight is 12.6 pounds.
  14. OK, 6' - 4", size 11 shoe, 210 pounds and I don't have the seat in my SV all the way back. Jim
  15. The last BMWCCA autocross of this year is on October 14th and I am going for a perfect record this year of 7 events and 7 top times. If you are interested in bringing your 7 out let me know. The event is full but I think I can get you in. The event is at Gwinnett County Fair grounds info for the event is here: http://www.peachtreebmwcca.org/ptAX_index.asp And if you are wondering, about 1/3 of the cars at our BMWCCA events are not BMWs.
  16. I use CR500s for the street, and they are about as good as it gets for that use. But in autocross on say, a 60 second course they would be on the order of 2 - 4 seconds slower. If you get on some wet pavement you won't miss the slicks. I drove home on some ACB-10s one day and got into the aftermath of a thunderstorm, not fun!
  17. Words escape me when trying to describe her stupidity. Or, maybe it is Darwinism at work. No, forget that, the kids did not deserve to die also.
  18. A048 are really good tires, I had them on my Elise. Be aware of two things though, they are not very good in the wet, and they are terrible in the cold, I mean terrible. If you track them take the first lap easy get them hot and then have a blast.
  19. I run Hoosier A6s now 205-15s on the front and 225-15s on the rear. When I first tired the Hoosiers 3 years ago, the A3S04s, I had 205s all the way around and the car definitely needed more rear "grip". In sweepers it was hard to keep it contained. The little extra in the rear makes a very nice difference. Sure wish Hoosier made an A6 205 in 13 inch, they have the A6 in 225-13.
  20. Hi all, I'm new to the forum but have had my 7 for five years now. I built it myself, here is a picture of me at a recent autocross here in the Atlanta area. I autocross with the local BMW club ( I ran their series here in Atlanta for 3 years), track the car a couple of times a year, and visit the Dragon as often as I can. Cheers http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/255042953_2006-04-02_Autox_11.jpg
  21. And now Brad the real fun starts, autocross, Road Atlanta, and Tail of the Dragon! When you are ready let me know!
