  1. The new tank requires a 3/4” spacer at the front edge to lift the tank slightly and significant bending of the fuel sender’s lever (make it shorter to reduce total travel). It will all work though you couldn’t call it drop in.
  2. Well, it “fits”. I have to redesign the axle brace as it extends too far into the tank’s space. It was actually rubbing against the original tank and had worn through the 1/8” wall brace !!!!
  3. I'm ordering one and will report back.
  4. Big shout out to Caterham. After my enquires, they have added a photo with dimensions to to the listing.
  5. Just listed: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1967-lotus-seven-5/
  6. Arch says a Caterham crossflow tank will fit.
  7. An original lever is different from all those shown so far.
  8. No, it’s an original stock tank. Some baffling but no foam.
  9. I could also build my own but plug and play is a lot easier in the busy summer season. I've queried Cat on the dimensions and put an enquiry into Arch motors.
  10. Good idea, thanks My tank was full of crap so I had it professionally dipped, steamed and lined. All to no avail. It's plugging (large) fuel filters in about a 100 miles.
  11. Will the below tank fit in a Lotus Seven (S3)? https://caterhamparts.co.uk/tanks/575-fuel-tank-carb-ford-and-vauxhall-engines-alloy.html?search_query=Fuel+tank&results=212
  12. On amazon, you can buy a more traditional cut-off switch for under $10*. You can use a pull rope/rod on it as well. It will also look a lot less like you Rube Goldberg'd it * not endorsing cheap switches, just pointing out they are available.
  13. That belongs to the chap I bought it from. I do have a bunch of scooters and motorbikes as well.
  14. It's a MagnaFlow 1 3/4" in and out. Yes, it is SS. The header is mild-steel and ceramic coated. I'm just about to bend up a mild-steel tailpipe. That will quieten it right down -- which I like, my boy racer days are long over..
  15. I went through everything. The main hold up was the engine. Had to get valve pockets cut in the pistons (clayed the heads to find 0.1mm between the exhaust valve and piston). Seems to have quite the lumpy cam — thus the lack of clearance. Few more jobs and it is off to the sunset I go… https://jbcollier.smugmug.com/Lotus-Seven-S3/i-F37JNLZ https://jbcollier.smugmug.com/Lotus-Seven-S3/i-HmxhX3m
  16. I'd suggest starting with putting suppressing condensers on the fuel pump and rad fan power feeds, preferably right at the units themselves.
  17. Flipping on the heater is a good idea in an emergency (failed electric fan, etc). You suffer, but you are suffering for a cause you believe in.
  18. Fix the problem, running the heater to cool the car is just a band-aid.

  20. Just did a quick online search.
  21. The jets are not the same. When jetting from scratch, you'll need a good supply of brass parts ($$$) and a A/F ratio gauge. It can be done (I have done quite a few) but it isn't cheap! It is ALWAYS easier and cheaper to go with a carb with a known baseline for your engine. Then maybe just a few mains/air correctors to dial it in perfectly. I set up Dellorto DVLAs on a Renault crossflow. I ended up with about a $800 of brass. Run beautifully now though.
  22. I also inquired directly with Soft Bits and they only make half-hoods and half-doors. If I had a roll bar, they were confident they could make one up just from photos. Nice to know.
  23. From Thundersport: Unfortunately, I have some bad news. I have been discussing your email with both the company director (the original trimmer who patterned the Caterham weather gear in the 70s) and our production manager. The current full hood and doors will definitely not fit your car. Our director advised that you might be able to get away with a short cockpit full hood but, upon investigation of our pattern boards with the Production Manager, we have no longer have the patterns available. Many apologies that we are unable to be of assistance.
  24. Thundersport now only sells certain items through Caterham. This includes hoods and screens. Does anyone know if a "Caterham S3" hood and side screens will fit a 1969 Lotus S3?
