That seems like a good explanation @MV8. Obviously the five hole gasket is not just meant for five hole bottoms - they fit four as well with a trim of the superfluous hole. BTW Pierce manifolds sells those bottom draining covers but the gasket that comes with them is the perimeter outline gasket. Anyway, this evening I discovered that the T fitting for my fuel inlet banjo bolt has a small crack and so I be will calling Pierce Manifolds for a replacement T and will ask about the mystery gasket.

My Redline 40 DCOE gasket kit came with two different gaskets for the bottom cover. One was a regular outline of the rim and the other was solid except for hole in the middle. Does it matter which one I use? Can I mix them up on twin carbs if I need a replacement?

Crossflow Cooling System -Overflow Tank or Expansion Tank

Good to know about detecting head gasket leaks. I have already sourced a radiator cap, thermostat, and water pump. -
Crossflow Cooling System -Overflow Tank or Expansion Tank
San Augustine replied to KS7's topic in General Tech
As you know I bought the car on BAT last week. I knew that I would need to check over the car before doing any driving, one of which was the cooling system. As to your question- the fan wires were plugged into the housing. But what got my attention was that the cap on the catch can was askew and the can was empty and dirty. The hose itself was dry and needed replacement. When I removed the radiator cap no coolant was visible. I then removed the housing to inspect the thermostat and found it cruddy but functional in the boiling water test. The coolant under the housing was clear and tested to be almost 100% h2O. So after these findings I knew that at a minimum I was replacing the coolant, the old thermostat, and radiator cap. And after reading this topic I thought that maybe it would be prudent to upgrade the cooling system. -

Sorry, I am an idiot. Got my hoses mixed up. Didn’t realize the hose you marked went to the h2O pump. -

Is it possible to have an interruption if I go off the heater inlet when the water valve is shut off since there is no continuous flow? -

Probably used the wrong terms here, the car has an overflow tank and I want to convert it to an expansion tank. -

Need some help here guys. Going through my new to me 1600 sprint and decided to do something about the cooling system and will go to the closed system route. Mudder do you have any pics of how you plumbed in the water pump to the heater and how you attached the expansion tank? - Sorry, I don’t know how to tag folks on here. I went ahead and purchased the following this morning based on iamscottius’ recommendations. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B095TTX9VF?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_titlehttps://www.ebay.com/itm/251958942442 https://www.ebay.com/itm/251958942442 https://www.burtonpower.com/samco-blue-coolant-hose-set-caterham-ford-x-flow-1600-1700-tcs-26-f.html?srsltid=AfmBOopuqcRDYC0jn9JVXl86o53iZJL6ZT3PJeq_jK2N8dHvbki6fDJg Thanks -
I was in the same boat, just purchased a 1988 Caterham with 11 year old tires. Decided to get the same tires I ran on my Miata ND -Verdestein Quatracs. They may not have the performance of Toyos but they are H speed rated which far exceeds what I will be doing with the car. Here is a picture of the car being delivered Wednesday and the tires which arrived from Tirerack this evening.

It wasn’t a T65. It was an 818. Dean offered it to me and sent some pictures. If they are scammers they are using an interesting tack posing as geriatrics. Sorry the pictures are upside down. I found the same car on a previous BAT listing -Sold to someone with the user name Deanb110. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2013-factory-five-818-4/ Be that as it may - I would only conduct a transaction of this expense in person! -

Thanks Scotticus, I spoke to Cathy and Dean quite a bit back in August and was almost ready to buy. But Dean wanted to keep the car through September. Since then I have realized one Seven is enough for now. Hope someone close to Minneapolis picks this one up. -

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/543699398197057?referralSurface=messenger_lightspeed_banner&referralCode=messenger_banner I was considering this car but am now way too deep in my S4 restoration. The gentleman who owns it is hard of hearing and it is better to contact him through his wife. Her number is 612-889-0440. -
13 inch wheel on a 2001 Zetec Birkin
San Augustine replied to San Augustine's topic in Wheels and Tires
American racing - the Dukes of Hazard wheels. At some point I am going to take off the spare remove the tire and weigh it without the tire and decide to keep them or not.
