The main rule about "kit car" "replica car" or any kind of car that isn't made by a big car company is this:
- No rolling chassis can be imported into canada.
So from there, you can always figured out how to have it dissasembled and they shipped to canada from different source.
ie:
Engine shipped from Mr White;
Tranny, Diff from Mr Blue;
Frame and everything else from Mr Brown;
From there you rebuild it at your home and have it plated as a self made car.
It's a grey area for sure, but I heard it works. One thing to be sure is to have receipt for all the major parts. Since they ask for bill of sale of each major part at the inspection part. (check for stolen goods)
Don't know if that helps, but still... too much an hassle I think.
Another way would be to buy an original Lotus seven that is more than 15 years old.
