  1. Maybe so, we never really weighted it. Guess I might just be trying to find excuses for slow lap times! Hey I'm 150lbs heavier with that cage! lol
  2. You could try you local convertible top repair shop. I had my top made there. They used Sunbrite (same company that does the Sunbrella fabric for boats). It's light, keep it's color for a long time and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
  3. Woah some people are spoiled! Only driven mine....
  4. Woah! 6.59 RWH / LB... That's one fast 8039.8 horsepower car!
  5. I might be close to skip's number. The car was dyno'ed at 300rwhp (probably 320-330 at the crank) but is kind of fat. the roll cage must weight about 150lbs easy from his 1400lbs base weight. I need to weight it to be sure. But let's say 1550lbs That's 5.1 lbs/ whp or 4.84 lbs / crank hp Still a fun fast car!
  6. I ended up with a pair of Easy Rider from Ryders.. http://www.ryderseyewear.com/eyewear/adrenaline_moto_moto-interchangeable_easy-rider/view.ashx The cost ain't that bad and they are confortable. They come with two set of glasses. I bought the teinted and clear ones. A plus is that they are "shatter-proof" After riding thru a sand storm on the highway, I had to buy a pair of sealed glasses.
  7. Being the first year with the SR27... my $ per smiles is higher than yours! Improvements: - Fan controller 125$ - Seats 1000$ - Roll cage 2500$ - Custom made top 500$ Repairs: - Fuel pump (had a spare one) - AFM connector 40$ all that in cheap canadian money! The summer is still young tho!
  8. Most of the built or stock miata engine I've seen and ran used DINO oil for the first 1000km (600 miles) and then switched to full synth (either group III or IV) Never seen any problem. I'd say go with it. Your engine will be happier!
  9. If the engine is a miata I would look hard at the Mazdaspeed manifold and turbo if I were you. It's a great setup for some more HP and the way the manifold is setup, it would probably fit easily. Flyinmiata westfield's run with one of those.
  10. The cage couldn't be any better. Seb at bimmershop over here near montreal did an absolute work of art! Always loved his cage work, and this one is even better... Can't wait to actually put this thing on the track and start the taming process. Must... be... patient...
  11. I can answer that since I bought that car's brother. Same setup but different tuning and color. The hubs and diff are from a miata. The diff came from a 1.6 engine miata. But the previous owner broke the diff arms so he went with the beefier 1.8 unit and welded more support to the diff arms. (Note to self, don't clutch-drop start that car). And mine had "only" 300 hp at the wheel. Can't say about the driveshaft, but it's probably a miata driveshaft that was modded.
  12. Once the car is registered renewing is as easy as sending a cheque in the mail each year. No fuss, no muss. I bought my seven already plated, saves me months of headache to have it inspected and assigned a VIN. Wonder if that car is based from the Deman Motorsport "kit".
  13. Don't think they are related. Baton Rouge is a rib and steak restaurant chain in Quebec. Nothing special about it really. It's a mid-range restaurant type as in it make middle class people think they are in a rich restaurant!
  14. He has sold it. Baton rouge restaurant actually bought the place. It's a rib and steak kinda of place. Don't know when the move will be made, but it's been confirmed by many. Crescent avenue won`t be was it used to be with the GrandPrix gone.
  15. I use ATE brake fluid in all my car. The great thing about those beside being very good bang for the buck is that they make 2 color of it. Gold and Blue. So when flushing you know exactly when you have flushed the line when the liquid changes to the new color. You just have to alternate between the two. I flush the whole lines each year and only bleed between each track events.
  16. Wow Hank, it's coming along quite fast! I was wondering if you could take a few shots of the cage mounting points. I'm gonna have a custom 2-piece cage made. And was trying to figure out what westfield uses as mounts. Seams to be 2 bolts on the side. Where do those bolts too? directly to the frame? Thanks, and keep up the good work! Jean-Philippe

    overheating :[

Simple question since it was not mentioned. Does the SPAL fan kicks in when the engine goes over his designated trigger temperature?
  18. actually you need a Camry it seams. Camry owns police car
  19. Yes, with the speedometer installed, and the proper "ratio" configured in the MXL software, the dash with be able to know in which gear it is. It's not perfect, but it works. I think that you need a neutral switch installed too, since reving the engine while moving will fool the MXL. Not sure about the details. But asking 210$ for a potentiometer is highway robbery. Now I know why you asked the forum . It all depends on how much your time is worth. You'd need to know the size and matting surface on the tranny and then go to an electronic parts store and try them out. They are cheap...
  20. Can't you just buy the potentiometer from Quaife as a "replacement part" without the display? From there you can easily just "calibrate" the value from the sensor on the MXL. Just get the raw value from each gear and configure it. That would be the easiest way. Otherwise, you'd need to find a good working potentiometer and a way to mount in on the box. While the quaife pot is bolt-on.
  21. Super 7 "R" type is rated at 285bhp Super 7 "R"
  22. Couple of my miata friends went to the British invasion in stowe this weekend. There were some nice seven. Guess I can post a few picture from them. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v719/twiggy144/IMG_1211.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v719/twiggy144/IMG_1213.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v719/twiggy144/IMG_1196.jpg Next year I'll try to be there with MY seven!
  23. I used to run ra-1 on my turbo miata. But after a day on an old airport concrete track I finished them. since middle of summer I run the new R888. So far so good. I really like them, They grip a little more I think and seams to take a lot more of a beating before "overheating". The gradual "wet" thread are gone and replace with a full thread pattern. We'll see how it goes. Oh one more thing about them... they squeal a LOT less than the RA-1. Ra-1 were probably at 8/10th when starting squealing... with the R888 you're more at 9/10th if they even squeal. Depends on the surface a lot more. You'll enjoy them. I know I did!
  24. I wasn't sure about the Hydra at first. But seeing how a fellow turbo miata with 7psi develops the same power that I do at 12psi with my link ecu miata. Glad to see another great example of the miata's engine power. Now go have fun with it!
