Track Elise. Awesome steering wheel to drive, this one shows lotsa hanging on. And your center marking up top. Which requires a dead centered setup. -

How much should one expect from our brakes?
Xhilr8n replied to Xhilr8n's topic in General Sevens Discussion
The silence was deafening so I’m thinking folks are not especially impressed with the brakes on their modern 7s? We have the upgraded master cylinder, AP Racing pads. Today I bled brakes (no bubbles), changed the oil at 600 miles and took her out for a serious brake bedin. Four hard stops, “leg press” Pause, four more. Four more again and got a rear tire to lock a touch, ‘new’ Avons on dry road. Hard stopping very straight. Seemed to develop more pedal travel and feel, modulation improved. I have no experience to help me judge whether this is par for the course but is improved. Nice drive on the Parkway after dark, half hood off. -

Thanks. I liked those Pagids on the Elise. Not beyond some changes of hardware. A performance car outta perform going and whoaing. -
Here’s the deal. I’ve only sat or ridden in like three various Sevens before ‘“The red one” came to our garage. Never driven one. The light car and light flywheel taught me how to use her clutch like they all do. Starts and moves along smoothly. Just approaching 600 miles so getting her first good pulls. So far so good. But the brakes. My first impression was it felt like pushing against drywall. Only a slight ‘give’ Flushed brakes as documented in another thread. Improved things but not a lot. The car can be stopped but takes substantial pressure, and you better be there quick with that full pressure if Whoaing down!!! is desirable. I figured TADTS, just a part of Sevendom. Took a nice “blat” this morning on the Blue Ridge Parkway. A senior fellow I’ve just met with an extensive racing history came along and gave me his impression, as I requested. He said you ought to be able to lock the wheels, push your eyeballs forward. My experience with my track prepped Elise is that we could out brake anything with doors at Road Atlanta. Watch a Corvette blow by on the back stretch and then hit the binders while we were on full throttle two more seconds! and dog them through the next couple of turns. First timers felt sick, it was great! Remember this car sat brand new in storage for like three years before she came to our garage. Please share your experience, strength and hope.

I believe the color was called Hemi Orange. It seemed correct to me. I saw Buddy Baker at Charlotte Motor Speedway debut the winged Daytona for racing. This photo not that day.

Not my cars but interesting to see these two together. As a kid our Dad was a Dodge and Plymouth dealer. We got one each from Chrysler, A Dodge Charger Daytona and a Plymouth Road Runner Superbird. Sold to the public.

Thanks, sorta reminds me of a Tennis 🎾 hat. These are a must have if you drive on street. The half hood was quickly off once I got there. Showing off the just this week installed powder coated track roll bar, trying to match the bonnet stripe. Here I’m describing uglyfast’s car to a 6’6” fellow who got in the car. Other than his knees.

Me arriving at Cars & Coffee at Prescott’s this morning. Uglyfast had a spot ready by his purple beast. Good turnout, quite a diversity of vehicles. Ours not the most diverse vehicles there, but close.

Yes you get to hold the rear dampers in your hands to get to the “aggravating” bolts to the roll bar underneath. Seriously, love the access to the top bolts on the dampers.
-
A tad surprising, but the many small hurdles were cleared and it was done with a pal helping in maybe 90 minutes, including running and splicing the wire to the brake light.

Powder coated track roll bar installed. Got the third brake light wired up. Everything fit, straightforward swap with base roll bar that came with the car.

Tennis training ball for kids?

My son had one. Felt old school.

First NC Inspection passed. Went in a month early in case there was an issue. Indeed an initial fail but the car (shamefully) had like 375 miles in a year. But after 100 miles on the parkway etc she passed. Relieved, was prepared to petition the DMV for an exemption.

C&C at Prescott Auto Reserve this morning. Uglyfast just back from driving Scotland. Discussed getting a group of 7 folks to tour N Scotland

Yes we all studied on that one. Could still get invisible fingerprints on it?

Europas that have graced our garages, as well as the Sevens

That sounds ideal. We used to have a bunch that would rent VIR for a day. Lodging and a good dinner for $200 -

Well, we can only learn our limits by exceeding them. You know a lot. No, seriously, I tracked our Elise 102 days at Road Atlanta and VIR. Attended a soectator a number of local auto cross events. My car was pretty well set up for it, but I never got around to doing it. Just seemed like an awful lot of time to be there for not much time on the circuit. If you could pay a few hundred dollars and get like 20 runs? But anyway, I applaud your courage to take on the cones and your willingness to reveal these photographs to us all 😊 -
