  1. The timing wount work to send to factory. i did try that with the moto-lita but caterham folks said no. I did ask about why m, this passed weekend, and was told they have not done any testing with the the spec’s wheel. So I took it as a liability concern as to the gauges, the car is expected to be finished up this week. The gauges won’t be ready maybe for 2 more weeks. the tech building my car did share how easy it will be to swap. So at this time, I’m not worried
  2. Anodized aluminum is the spec. I suspect the mock up will not capture what it will look like in person.
  3. Wanted to share, the team at Caerbont Automotive Instruments, manufacture of the Smiths line of gauges, has put together a set of gauges for my 620S. I wanted an instrument cluster that offered a better aesthetic to the light leather interior I spec'd. On their website I came across their Motorsports line with while gauge faces and a modern lettering I thought would fit the bill. After a bit of back and forth I was able to commission a set of gauges to match. for compatibility reasons, the new set would need a bit of engineering to be plug and play. I just received the update that they are ready to manufacture them and sent over the mock up. Im quite pleased with the results and am excited to recive the gauges. Robert
  4. I’m not familiar with either
  5. I am not familiar with either
  6. Taking a closer look at I’m surprised that the rear calipers don’t allow quick pull out pads looking like I’ll need to remove the center calipers to swap pads.
  7. I realized for the first time I can contribute to this thread. (Taken yesterday)
  8. We picked up the SV from Ian at Celtic caterham- only a few minutes from the circuit. Then headed out north west. had some wonderful one lane mt roads. we ended up passing through Glencoe at its most ominous. Looked like some thing out of lord of the rings (except for the few spots loaded with folks stopping to film the valley. once we came out the north end. The sky lifted and the sun came. Stayed the night at Ballachulish Set back out for Knockhil, but not before my son insisted we look for Nessie.
  9. Weekend at knockhill was great. enjoyed watching the academy series. My son loved the 310R group. interesting thing at Knockhill. On Saturday the drove the track counterclockwise. On Sunday they went clockwise Both turn ones was great. And looked like everyone got all 4 wheels off the ground in another (on Sunday). Meet up with the Caterham folks including Callie, who arranged much of the weekend for us. IMG_6264.mov
  10. One item that surprised me was the stated weight placard the placard showed 860kg. Until that moment I had been under the impression that the car weight a flexible 610kg That’s a significant difference 610 kg ≈ 1,345 lbs 860 kg ≈ 1,897lbs at 1900lbs, that’s damn close to my former Elise, and ~400lbs more than my old europa. The caterham web specs list the 610 and various publications reference that number. hp per ton certainly shifts a good bit. 610 kg: ≈ 508.2 hp/ton 860 kg: ≈ 360.5 hp/ton
  11. I didn’t think to look at that at all
  12. did not realize that Caterham was now building dual use chassis with provisions for RHD and LHD instead of two specific chassis, one for each. I was just under the impression that the chassis had always been duel configured. Also, are you are having the car completely built by the factory? We spent a few minutes on this today. for most factory US assembly cars, the build includes the fitment of the engine and includes first startup before removing the drive train for shipping for the 620, the engine is fitted, but not fired up. following quality inspection l, the drivetrain is removed and then shipped separately to the assemblies.
  13. There was enough built to keep us plenty occupied.
  14. Soon enough we made our way around to my car. meet the builder and spent an easy hour talking about the build and process.
  15. Not sure how I didn’t take a single photo while at the paint department but we spent a good bit of time at paint. I arrived about the same time they had a good bit going on all at different stages. learned a ton about the in house prep, paint and polish process.
  16. Continuing around counterclockwise, passed through engineering, and saw a few customer cars, and the intake area / finishing & testing bay.
  17. My son had the opportunity to sit in the Caterham F1 car. im a big admirer of the leather wrapped rollbar. Looking at the rolled aluminum panels wrapped around the frame caught us for a few moments
  18. Landed Heathrow at 6am and made our way over to Dartford. Had a bit of a bite at Lakeview 360. And when it was time, walked our way about 20 mins to the factory.
  19. I had the pleasure of visiting my car today at about 80 hours into the 110 hour build. Rob B offered an in depth tour and interview with a few of the various departments. Also spent nearly an hour with my car’s builder. I was blessed to have my son with me as well making the trip more memorable. Headed up to visit Ian at Celtic Caterham to slip into one of his rentals l, then on to knockhill for a weekend of Caterham racing.
  20. Got the update today that the folks at Caerbont Automotive have begun the gauge engineering. Speedometer , tachometer, Coolant temp, Fuel gauge, Oil Press Dial Color: Cirrus white. pointer color: orange style: telematics
  21. Ok. So October event id definitely not going to work let’s hope I can join next year.
