Hi all, This car has had a short interesting history, but the important point is that this VIN will not be sold in the state of California for registration. The state's BAR has it flagged as a car I built as a dealer... which is of course not per the rules. But I can sell it out of state. The build of the car is documented here- http://www.britishspeed.com/gallery3/index.php/Caterham-Build-SV-S3-170 The car was transferred to the new owners, but they ran into the registration issue, so we have replaced this car with a different one. Now this one can be sold out of state. There was a small mishap with this car where it was run into while stopped and the rear end of the car was rebuilt. While we had it in the race shop, everything was gone over and in fact, many things were improved from the factory build. The driveshaft was trued and balanced. They added new adjustments to the rear differential for better alignment. Brakes were gone over and improved. The car drives very well. Original cost to me to build this car was north if $55,000. It has a little over 1500 miles on it and the engine is VERY strong. There is some minor body damage on the very rear and very front from my being really stupid with a trailer. Otherwise it is perfect. Full weather gear. Leather seats. No heater (but one could be added). 5 speed gearbox. Added rear brake light to rollbar. Custom brackets for rear lights and custom license plate bracket. Hi, I did some searching and read a few threads. But I did not find a comprehensive one that basically answered the question... does one need to apply some film to a Seven? We are building two new Caterhams and from my experiences with my Lotus... I am looking at the front of the rear fenders, the sides of the body by the doors, and the nose...and thinking they are going to be pretty crap very fast. So looking at options- 1. Leave it alone. Films end up looking like crap and are harder to maintain and you will eventually replace them anyway. Not too much cheaper than a respray. Just drive the damn thing... chips are the patina of use. 2. Get guards installed. Metal bits for the front of the rear fenders. Call it good. Ignore the chips on the nose and sides. 3. Apply precut vinyl/3M guards to the rear fenders only. 4. Wrap everything. Put film all over the car. 5. Painters tape. The equivalent of leaving the plastic wrap on your furniture so it stays "nice". Thoughts? Thanks

Hey, we are moving forward in production on the Toniq R for the US market and will be importing some of them this spring. Mine will be powered with either a 2.3l Duratec turbo, or a turbo two rotor engine. If anyone has any questions about the car, feel free to ask. We may or may not be importing them as a side business. I don't know yet of that makes sense. The recent dollar/pound changes to the exchange rate may make that pencil out. Or not. But regardless, I get to play with one soon. We have been over to the UK THREE times now for test drives. Quite a bit of fun taking the car through the Cornwall countrysides for a blat.
