I cant hold off anymore, you just have to read this http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=30&t=707959&mid=161144&i=0&nmt=Anyone recognise type of this this 7 style car ?&mid=161144 You can guess my nick on there, its Rich7se I am losing it with this german no it all. Ok thats great thanks Rich

I know , he is a rather arrogant person. He has just shot me down again, when I questioned him on how he knows its on Spitfire susp as appossed to GT6/herald/vitesse, he responded "because it looks like spitfire..and when it looks like spitfire..it is spitfire!!" Not to worry, he obviously knows far more than me....... NOT. How the hell you can tell that its Spitty susp from those pics I will never know. Anyway no news from my email as yet, I`m not that confident in getting a reply but you never know. Thanks for the link, unfortunatly I cant read that......, knew I should have studied harder at school . However in my quest for infomation, I have found a wiki link which explains things a bit better http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_car_number_plates Rich

Well depending on the state of the bores and the sizes of the existing pistons, yes I may well go for a bit bigger. Agree on the 234 cam, from posts I have read on some Ford sites this does seem to be the best one for street and the odd trackday. I have been reading the oil thread on here with some interest, so yes I will make sure about the zinc addititive the next time I refill it. You seem to have the same issues that we have, first they stopped the old 4 star fuel, then they want all old cars/engines off the road - when will it ever end. They will be blaming the kitcar industry next for keeping all the old engines going......... anyway they want us to be green, I am, I drive a recycled car - you cant get much greener than that. Rich

I was thinking how much different the car looks without a rear roll over bar, do you have any side shots please. Rich

Hi thanks for getting back to me, just measured it again with calipers this time, its actually 156mm, so I think if it was at 150 this would give me a bit of clearance http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/6751/pic0033v.jpg I just painted this one on. Rich

Just had a rather abrupt responce to the fact about the red plates " 779 posts 45 months [report] 00:19 http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/quote.gif did i recognize a spitfire front suspension??? and its not on dealer plates!!!! you have no clue about german registration plates!!! " Some folks do get upset dont they, lol
-
Saw your ad the other week, I would love one but having measuered the Westies nose, it wont fit - only got 155mm to play with and I dont really want to modify the nose. Do you have any that may fit? Rich EDIT TO ADD if you cut the outside rim off, what size is the `7`part ?.

Well after two hours of searching , I have just emailed the site that you mention with the extra pics on it. I dont know if they will respond as I dont speak German. I will just have to wait now. Rich

Well spotted , I was trying to find more pics myself - well done. I was going to give up, but now I may carry one on this quest. Rich

Whilst searching i found this http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/3195/1207e.jpg Anyway one problem at a time.....

Trying to trace the bonnet event sticker, thats just as hard. Been searching for the last hour now. I have blown it up a bit but I dont speak german, can anyone make any other words out on it. I have "Rosenheim" so far. I know its from a ADAC event, but cant find which one !. The poster said it was from the ADAC Bavaria Historic rally, but its not as I have been through both the 2009 and 2008 entry lists. There is one 7 listed but its not this one - well unless this is a very modded Lotus 7 S4 , which i doubt very much.

I think its a mota-lita wheel, I had one on my old Triumph. But yes you are correct about getting your thumb stuck, I actually did that whilst upside down in the footwell ( sorting out the electrics), I used the steering wheel to pull myself up and put my thumb through it, lucky for me my hands were oily so it came out...... Still no nearer myself, spent an hour or two browsing google images for matches - nothing found as yet. Rich
-
Yes its a tough one, this was posted on a general car site here in the uk and the poster wanted to know what it was. Yes the info given was that it was in Bavaria. Its got Triumph front susp, so I was thinking at a very early caterham?, could even be an original modded Lotus.....? Rich

Trying to identify which breed of 7 this is, any suggestions? My first thought was Birkin, but i dont think thats right...... http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3305/3622515704_a6aaa376c7_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3403/3622514236_7bd9e70db5_b.jpg

Whilst looking for some info on my Type 9 gearbox, I found this cool site that has loads of downloads on it. I grabbed the Sierra one which is here if you want it. http://pdftown.com/Ford-Sierra-Manual.html or here for the main index page http://pdftown.com/ Sorry if you know about it already, but I thought I would share in info. Hi there Stephen , ECU is custom made, a good friend of mine makes them in his spare time, he works for BAE systems on the electronics division, so what he doesn`t know isnt worth knowing, lol. We did some testing at an old airfield some years ago to give the unit a real shakedown. I ran his system on my old sprint car and took 1.5 seconds off my best time with just that fitted instead of the aldon dizzy igni. I just need to get a front pully milled up to complete that fitment. As the build progresses I will post more on it. Rich

Well yesterday I did a compression test and found the figures woefully low 1600cc 711M DRY 1 - 150 2 - 120 3 - 125 4 - 120 WET 1 - 160 2 - 140 3 - 145 4 - 120 From that it can be seen that cyl 1 to 3 would appear to be rings and cyl 4 looks like a valve issue. I will be re-ringing all anyway, without a stripdown its hard to say what state the bores are in, but oddly the car still goes like stink and had a great battle with a modded Vauxhall on the lanes yesterday, he did lose out I am pleased to report . Anyway the reason for the post is to ask -: Is there anything in particular i need to look out for with this stripdown ( i already have the Haynes manual on the engine), any hints or tips?. Also what would your recommendations be for a small to medium tune up, cams etc?, already have twin webers and a half decent exhaust manifold and will go to ecu controlled igni at this point. The car will be off the road in around 4 weeks so that gives me a bit of time to plan this out, no rush to complete the rebuild however. Rich

Found this on the NASA site. http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/on_demand_video.html?param=http://anon.nasa-global.edgesuite.net/anon.nasa-global/ksc/ksc_060509_sts125_ferryflight1.asx&_id=197333&_title=Atlantis%20Returns%20to%20Florida&_tnimage=358013main_ksc_060509_sts125_ferryflight1-t.gif Rich I see todays flight was posponed due to leaks on a tank.
