  9. Glad Bill could help out, cheers Bill you're a star.. Some Good advice do far, try the simple stuff first Duane, with a bit of luck it will be some thing easy. Keep us posted, will help out as much as possible. If it should come to removing the head I'm sure we can figure out some way to get together and tackle the project..this car is going to be running like a clock come hell or high water. Keep your chin up mate.
  10. Hi Graham, there are a few companies in the UK who specialize in bike carb conversion, they use this carb on a regular basis, part of their conversion is to open up the main jets to suit the particular engine. I will be going by their recommendations during my project. Appreciate your input, will keep a post going on my progress....Steve
  11. Sounds like the head gasket. Was there anti freeze in the system? If sooooooo then brownish goo sounds about right. Was this engine rebuilt by the guys you bought it from, and did they torque the head down correctly. Compression test will tell a story..
  12. Geez Duane,I feel for you...I know Stewart had his car housed in his trailer, not sure about Bill, maybe give them a call and see if they can help out.. Do a compression test, it's a Good place to start to see if the head gasket is the culprit. I have a compression test gauge if you need one.
  13. Damn that Ebay!!!!!

  15. Just bought a set of Kawasaki zx900r carbs on Ebay. New project. Going to strip and clean,re jet. Then design and build a manifold. My westy on bike carbs next year...
  16. :iagree::driving::hurray:
  17. Rikker you are quite right as to trying these cars out is the only way to really know which make,model suits you best. As to your point on the soft tops I can agree partially with you, in as much as accommodation is tight once inside. My lovely lady and me are both in our sixties and have used the top on numerous occasions, getting in and out is like many things in this life,a learning process, once learned,a piece of cake...We drive a Westfield and can have the top in place literally in minutes, leakage...minor. The heater keeps our lower body toasty, that will be an upgrade this winter, there are after market ones way more powerful...
  18. Oh, ya, can't drive ya seven in a buffalo herd......but you can be happy if you've a mind to it, all ya gotta do, is knuckle down and buckle up and do it, do it, do it........right skip!
  19. It's December and I'm still driving mine.......
