  1. Hey guys, how would you approach an overhaul (on a limited budget)? I have a pretty good idea of where I want my car to be when I'm done but I'll need to do it in stages and don't want to do things twice, or out of sequence if that makes sense. Here is what I'm starting with, and the destination is to replace the drive train with a Honda F20A (S2K) and from the LSD on out with Subie STI. I've emailed with Brian at WCM and he has been great at giving me advice on what parts to use for my application. Since I can't do this all at once (and maintain my marriage), I'm trying to figure out how to stage it into phases that make sense. If I start with engine and transmission, I'll obviously destroy the drive shaft, differential and axles as they were never designed to take that much power. So it would make more sense to me to start with the LSD and rebuild the rear end first but then there is the hang up of having to make a custom drive shaft made that will have to be done again when I do the engine. Any sage advice? Voices of experience?

    Initial purchase

  3. Suppose I should have started posting here but when I started posting was before I became an owner. My name is Calvin, I'm 41 and married with a 6 yr old son and a daughter on the way. Originally from Mt. View CA, Trans planted to NC by way of USAF and marriage. My first ride in a Seven was when I was twelve and the itch had returned. I bought an S2000 6 years ago and though I've had a lot of fun with it, that itch was still there nagging at me. I've been looking at building a Westfield for about three years now and I started talking to Tom at Manik Technologies about six months ago. He was great in showing me all of my different options but I kept starting with a Megabusa kit and ending up with something else at 2-3 times the price (not Tom's fault, mine). I stumbled onto this site and stumbled again in finding this thread. I spoke to Jeff and a few months later we met (each with trailers). I've spent the last couple weeks getting to know the car and all that I'm sure of at this point is that this is an affair that is going to last a long time! The S2000 sits right next to it in the garage, is now called the "wifes car" and looks like it is prepared for winter. Thank you to all who helped me through this acquisition, especially Jeff who kept this thing immaculate and bent over backwards to make sure that I got the car! Calvin
  4. Hello, I'm the proud new owner. My first ride in a seven was at the age of 12 and 30 years later, the smile is permanently fixed again! The car is in the shop at the moment and the mechanic used a term that I had to look up. He said that it's running like a "scalded dog" after he re-jetted both the main and idle jets. After looking that up, my smile got even bigger cause hell, it had more power than I knew what to do with before I took it in there! I'm the fourth owner and I truly hope to take care of it as well as my predecessors. Jeff went out of his way (way out of his way) to ensure that I got the car and I'm now starting to understand why. I'm hoping to meet a few other owners in the area and have plans to run the dragon this year, if anyone is interested, give me a shout! Calvin
  5. Thanks Steve, I found this site but you have to wonder how much of it is real. FedEx is about the most expensive I found but they won't even consider moving the spare parts which takes them out of consideration. I know, I could separate the two (car/parts) but since I refuse to use the terminal service, I'm already paying for point to point driving. This time of year appears to be a "dog eat dog" environment for the industry and to an extent they are fighting for the business. I do not believe that I would be getting the level of attention that I am in a few months when things warm up. My target isn't the cheapest price by any means, I want the car here in the same condition that it is now. To an extent I'm actually looking for smaller companies that provide more service instead of a tracking number on a website. Thank you for the response though. I'm really looking forward to that first weekend getaway and am plotting a course to the tail of the dragon! Calvin
  6. Thanks! Does anyone have any auto transporter that they would recommend? I've pretty well done away with the idea of exposed (or open air) transporter and will stick with an enclosed trailer. Still there are a lot to choose from and other than the open/enclosed issue the only thing I know is that I want to stay away from a "terminal" service where they stage vehicles until they have a full shipment to transport. So, anybody ship a seven this way and they were happy (or not) with the overall service? Calvin
  7. I'm in the process of trying to purchase this and in anticipation of having the car go from 5500 feet elevation down to a couple hundred feet one of my first needs will be to change the jets. I’m looking for anyone in the Raleigh NC area that would any of you might recommend. I think I could handle it myself after talking with Ben at Caterham but just in case, I’m looking for someone with experience just in case. They are Dellorto carbs but I was told to look for anyone with experience with webbers or dellortos as they are similar. Calvin
