  1. What year is the car listed as? I think that will help prospective buyers. At least in MA anything 15 years and newer gets plugged into the OBD2 to pass emissions
  2. My family lives in Ayer. I don't know how long it's been since you lived here, but the base "Devens" hasn't been active in years and it's one of the primary sites where AutoX events happen now. The only Seven-esc car I've even been in is a Stalker when I visited their factory in Florida, but registration was part of the issue on that car as well, but living in this region, I'd really like to climb Mount Washington in a 7. I'm part of a group of about 200 cars that does a road rally up to the white mountains every summer, where they have some fantastic driving roads for a seven. I'm assentially looking for this expereience (Turn on closed captions):
  3. How is this car registered in Indy? Is it registered as a 2006 Kit car or a classic? [EDIT:] Just noticed you mentioned this above... I don't think that would fly in Massachusetts. Our registration process and inspections are absurd here.
  4. i'm not even going to try to register in MA. Screw em, they're a pain in the ass. If I get a 7 or other kit car it'll be going in the name of a company either in Montana, or try to be somewhat legit, and register it under a company in Maine
  5. Beautiful car . Now I'm watching videos on caterhams and how usable they actually are, and getting bad ideas of selling the Elise and just getting a caterham. I think the full windscreen and doors/bikini top make these cars just a lot more usable in a place like New England where the weather can be hit or miss
  6. Thanks so much mondo, the car does intrigue me now a bit. I reached out to WestTexas upon all of the advice I've gotten and it looks like it's been a while since they've been active on the board so haven't heard anything back. I also repaired the fiberglass on both clams of the elise and had to rebuild both the mirror mount and some edges. If I damaged the fiberglass hood I could likely fix it too. Just one of the small repairs I highlighted on my Elise build. This one seemed simple but actually took like 4-5 hours:
  7. Jerry if it makes you feel any better your sale was just one of several data points. There have been at least 3 sales that I found within the last 3 or so years and they all sold within 1K of each other. All listed on publically acessible sites like bringatrailer.com
  8. Thanks Jerry I used your car as a benchmark. He wants 30k for his and it just doesn't add up to what the market seems to be on them. He also disclosed, thankfully that he's been dealing with hydraulic issues and a crunchy trans when shifting near redline. So the trans likely needs to get rebuilt. I've had hydraulic issues cause me to start beating up the synchros and that further pushed the value down for me. I was in the lower 20s but the transmission issue pushed me down to 20k even. Which obviously is too far off what he wants for it.... Ohh well... may not be meant to be. I just bought an Elise 12 months ago and I've been putting cash into it to rebuild it ever since, so the wife's already mad. I've struck out twice on trying to get into a Lotus 7 style car.
  9. Powerderbrake I see you sold your car a year ago. If you don't mind me asking what did it go for, and whats the going rate on these cars?
  10. What if you get into an accident and need a new front end.. Thats the sort of thing that would total the car I guess unless you could fix it.
  11. Thanks, I'd REALLY really like to avoid that. I think it looks silly to have to wear a helmet in a car but I'm wondering if I should buy the car at any price. Given finding parts may be impossible now. I wish I knew about this model when I was looking at Brunton stalkers. I've heard they're wider even, and having a real trunk area is surprising.
  12. Hey Guys, I almost bought a Brunton stalker abouy 18 months ago after agonizing over the decision for more than a year. Ended up buying a supercharged Elise project car that I've already put a couple hundred hours into. But I was saying that it was still not scratching the itch and that I still had this ultralight go kart idea in my mind. The next day a For Sale thread came up on a WCM Ultralite. The car looks nice but is way too pricey, so I'm kicking tires and now that WCM is out of business I'm not even sure if you can source parts for them any more. What should I know about them? I'm familiar with the drivetrain, but don't know about the availability of the rest of the parts. If something broke right now I wouldn't know where to look it up to find a replacement. Also I hear they're larger, and have a trunk, 2 things the stalker seemed to be lacking in which would really come in handy. And finally the wind from the full windshield came in around the sides, enough that even shouting at about 50mph was impossible, and uncomfortable. Am I crazy for thinking the brooklands style on the WCM would be anywhere near acceptable? I went on a supercar rally with the elise and still got hit in the head with a couple stones. i can only imagine the brooklands.
  13. I know right... I already have an ls1 and I live on the east coast of the US so a Stalker makes the most logical sense, but my emotions tell me a a high strung 4 cyl will be more exciting. To wring out an Ls1 like he's beating on that F20c is never possible anywhere on the street. The stalker's almost too capable, to be properly played with on the street which is my fear. And driving a fast car slow is never as much fun as driving a slow car fast... but then again who wants a SLOW car... ugh the internal battle rages.
  14. Never wanted one more than I do after watching this video.
  15. I was just down in FL visiting Scott and Glen and taking a tour of the facility, and Scott was talking about this car. It's funny, I guess "fast" is relative, because he says LS1's don't even feel particularly fast to him any more. But if I remember correctly he got out of this car with enough of an adrenaline hit that he was dealing with a bit of the shakes. I guess I don't really understand the point of so much power in a platform that isn't really known for it's aerodynamics. If I was going for something to have fun at high speed it would be a vette, supra, rx7. Something that's been proven stable at high speed.
  16. I'm looking for a Lotus 7 kit, and I'm planning on using the s2000 transmission. It's much stronger, and it goes for about the same cost as the miata trans
  17. I'm looking at the Brunton Stalker, but it's very apparent from talking to the guys over there that they're not really interested in developing 4cyl options other than the new miata kit they just put together. I like the miata kit and I think using a donor car is a great idea, but the miata engine sucks. Anyone know of any other kits that would accommodate a K24? It's dimensions are very similar to the F20c so kits using that engine may be adaptable. Thakns guys
  18. Flipped an Aventador... congrats kid you managed to flip probably one of the lowest/widest cars on the market... You're going far in life!
  19. Every time I see one of these new hybrid super cars the first thought that comes to my mind, no matter how impressive they are, is how much better they'd be if they just dropped all of that hybrid bs
  20. So just curious can you drive under gates with lotus 7 style cars?
  21. A little bit off topic but I was curious if you guys knew of any cars faster than the lotus 7 replicas available today that provide the same sort of value. When it comes to a car you can drive to the track, go faster than most of the trailer queens and then drive home I don't think there's a more efficient car on the planet. If there is a better car it usually costs at least twice as much if not many times more expensive. So my question is, do you guys know of any vehicle that can run faster at the track while still being street legal, and costs Lotus 7 type of money, and finally if there is a better car (say ultima GTR for example which is debatable) how much more money do you have to spend? This goes for all cars but realistically tube frame cars will be the only ones that can compete. I can't think of one that even comes close
  22. Which body configurations require the scoop vs those that dont? I thought brunton only sold 2 frames, their regular and an extended version for tall folks. You are getting wheel hop with a solid rear axle? Any update on that
  23. This car looks great. The hood scoop on the Stalkers is growing on me. I was thinking about shaving it as it's not needed from what I understand with the ls1, but it looks good. Couple questions, how much finish work did it take to get that quality of paint job. How rough are the panels from Brunton? And two, no radiator fan?? I am using a ford taurus fan with my ls1 Rx7 and it's the only thing I've found that keeps things cool but I doubt it's going to fit in this package.
  24. This is what I was thinking. I am going to wait a while before doing anything. I want to hear some more feedback on the new MSpec suspension, but it looks really really promising.
