  1. Do a Factory Five Challenge car. - He has experience with the Daytona Coupe from FF - You'll have a completed race car that you can enter in a NASA series - Cobras are cool
  2. I actually have been moving the car up further so the etrack sits right behind the tires...crossed straps in the back and 2 in the front racheted down. Had an issue my 2nd time towing which resulted in a scratch on the back of the 7...that's what happens when you and 4 drunk friends load in your Lotus after your wedding. After that it's been peachy. I actually just put the car in and dump packing peanuts in through the top! That I need to see lol What's the rating on the bimmer? I never was an SUV guy, but the Saab really comes in handy for our camping excursions and is mucho fun in the winter with 390HP and AWD. Thank you sir! Car doesn't bottom out, actually has just the right amount of clearance loading into the trailer. I'll try to grab a pic loading her in this weekend. Here is the car as is...some adjustments need to be made, this is the car at 95% complete. It was a big rush to get her running/painted/sorted because we used it for pictures in my wedding last weekend. Here is the car 2 months ago: http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p26/CityGoat/217/P5150129.jpg Two weeks later: http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=126628&stc=1&d=1282514837 Painted and drivable! http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p26/CityGoat/217/P8290155.jpg http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p26/CityGoat/217/P9030192.jpg I've put 11 of the most exhilerating miles of my life on it so far! Still some kinks to work out, she is sitting wayyyy too high, not all gauges are hooked up, but we are getting there. This was a Coveland frame with an integrated cage. Miata donor. Going to hillclimb this weekend to learn the limits a bit in a "controlled" environment. -Ryan
  3. I figure I might as well bump this up. I ended up getting an enclosed trailer for a number of reasons: 1. We will be moving cross country in 4 months and I'd like some weather protection for the 7 2. I don't want everyone to see my bright green race car, especially when parked at a hotel overnight. 3. Shelter at a track day from obnoxious heat or rain 4. It doubles as a garage - therefore I'll only have to rent an outdoor spot for the trailer, vs having to rent a indoor spot for the 7 and a outdoor storage space for the trailer. It costs more upfront, but I think the pros make it worth it. It is a 7x12 American Hauler Nighthawk, single axle, brakes and an electric winch to help get the 7 up the VERY TIGHT ramp door opening. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p26/CityGoat/217/P9030195.jpg http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p26/CityGoat/217/P9030196.jpg http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p26/CityGoat/217/P9030198.jpg Thanks folks! Oh yeah, and my car is done
  4. Camo paint....i like it.
  5. Snag in the road...picking her up Wednesday (leaking rad and starting issue). Teaser: http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p26/CityGoat/217/P8290139.jpg
  6. A buddy came through! Nevermind!!!
  7. Hey guys! There is a very real chance I may be FINALLY bringing my 7 home on Sunday! I wanted to ask if there is anyone here that would be willing to rent me their trailer for the day? I'd rather pay a member here than give the cash to uHaul. I live in Astoria, Queens and will be picking up the car in Bethlehem, PA. I cannot tell you how excited I am. -Ryan
  8. Best of luck Bryce! I can't wait to see that beast in person. Enjoy the trip, it's going to be a blast...no better way to get acquainted with your 7 then by taking a trip halfway across the country once ya pick it up. Love it! As always, if you need anything along the way feel free to give a ring. There's a chance this weekend my SE7EN will be all done this weekend as well...adding 2 7s to the Northeast in one week!
  9. I'm aroused.
  10. More pictures! So jealous. I'm moving from NYC to San Francisco next year...man, it would be awesome to drive the 7 there.
  11. Ugh, tell me about it. You guys have to stop posting up these great buys...makes me cry myself to sleep.
  12. Ford's DOHC 5.0 is heavier, makes less power and is more costly (by far) to mod than a LS3. LSX powah for all.
  13. More info on EV-1! lol
  14. My fiance calls it "the Monopoly car"
  15. Thanks for the link. Unfortunately 100% of the options in there are well beyond my price range.
  16. A good point...trailer brakes will go on the to-do list. Need the trailer first! ...suggestions?
  17. Guys, thanks so much for the suggestions so far. This is the first car I'll ever be trailering so every bit of info helps! Responses below: I was actually figuring I won't be using trailer brakes. My SUV can tow 6600lbs, I wouldn't imagine a 1400lb car and 1000lb(?) trailer would be a big issue for stopping? If I can find a trailer with brakes it would be preffered for the safety aspect, but I'm under the impression it's not 100% necessary? Trailer sway is a concern though. Thanks Tom, I didn't think about that. Hey MHK, An enclosed isn't in the cards right now. Ideally, I would like to be able to store the trailer and the 7 inside my garage. Enclosed just wouldn't work out...plus it's a bit more costly. Also, for at least the first year the 7 won't be road legal...driving it to a trailer shop has it's difficulties. Anyone have any recommendations for a brand/model? Or what they use? If a good enough deal comes along on a standard size open trailer I'll snatch it up. Just looking to add some lightness to my towing
  18. Hey all, I put this up on locostusa.com a couple of months ago and still don't really have a good lead on answers...wondering if you guys could help out. Basically, I am looking to see what you guys are using for a car trailer to tow the Lotus. In the interest of being cost and space effective I'm looking for the smallest possible trailer I can get a 7 on safetly. Being that the car doesn't weigh too much, and it's shorter than most I personally think a standard 16' open trailer is way overkill. If anyone knows of an ATV or other special use trailer that would work, let's see some pics or links! Bonus points if you can tell me a make/model. I've found a few landscaping trailers that are 7x11...which should be a perfect fit but I'm open to suggestions and what others are using. Thanks! -Ryan PS - Trying to keep this relatively cheap. So no aluminum or enclosed trailer suggestions right now. Thanks again
  19. Never heard of them
  20. Hey all, So for a hopefully upcoming hillclimb with the 7 I needed to get a racing suit, gloves and shoes to prevent the whole possibility of being burned alive. Pretty much with most racing gear you gotta just order online and hope for the best when it comes; there are only a few shops around the country that actually stock items like full suits, helmets, steering wheels, etc and they never seem to be anywhere near where ya live. So when I found out there was a fully stocked shop an hour away from my casa I was pretty stoked. Driving Impressions in Dover, NJ has literally everything ya need to get going in road racing. Bob Zecca was a tremendous help with helping me find the best fitting suit, gloves and shoes that matched best with my needs. Beyond that? The shop was amazing! 6000 sq/ft shop and warehouse full of racing goodies. For anyone who is a fan of road racing this place was heaven. Tons of cool autographed stuff around (Michael Schumacher's gloves, a letter from Enzo Ferrari). A pristine Lancia Delta Integrale in the showroom imported from Italy. I know, I know I should have taken some pics...all in all though an amazing time, spent over 3 hours there shopping, seeing the facility and talking to Bob about everything from dogs, to his travels in Italy to of course - racing. If anyone is in need of racing gear I HIGHLY recommend swinging by Driving Impressions in Dover, NJ. http://www.teamdi.com/ -Ryan
  21. Take lots of pics and vids! Those of us still building their 7 need inspiration!
  22. Paging Bster Beautiful ride man.
  23. Have a good one guys. I'll pray to the sunshine gods for ya!
  24. Buy this amazing car Bster. Buy it and take me for a ride in it. Yes.
  25. Hey Graeme, I would love to buy this trailer from you however we are wayyy too far away for this to be a possibility. Would you be able to tell me where you got the trailer and the brand/model? This is exactly what I'm looking for, it's a shame you aren't closer. Thanks. -Ryan
