  1. While not technically an owner I'm making some final preparations for mine. I'm planning on a Brunton Stalker, just rode in SnookWheel's stalker this past weekend and it was hella fun. I'm in Winter Haven, kinda makes me laugh. Melbourne is literally straight east of me (probably 60 miles), but there are no roads directly there. I either have to go through Orlando or through Yeehaw Junction (yes, this is a real place). Either way according to Google Maps its 2 hours.... Still worth the trip in my opinion. Beagley
  2. Really dig that song. I did a little searching and its called Playground Love by Air. Great driving vidtoo..... could see that clip as the ending to a good heist movie where the main hero/heroine is a gearhead and making their clean getaway after the big score. Love heist movies.
  3. I've got a work trip in a few weeks to Newport, RI an was wondering if there was anybody close enough to meet me. I'll be happy to buy a round or two. The dates are June 6th - June 9th. Mod, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum so feel free to put it wherever it belongs. Thanks, Andy
  4. Thanks for the replys everyone. My "plan" is to take to a rolling road and have a shop set everything up, BUT I would like to know what is going on under the hood. I have a fairly good idea of timing and fuel maps etc, but I think its worth the few hundred bucks to have a pro get it "right" the first time. There are some local classes from EFI tuning that I am interested in attending. Here is a link to their site. http://www.calibratedsuccess.com I would be going to the one in Orlando if I go, anyone else interested as we may be able to set up a group rate? Andy
  5. I'm planning a supercharged 2.0L duratec build and have just finished reading a GREAT book on supercharging. The author really stressed the importance of EFI and that got me thinking about the different aftermarket systems that are available now. What systems have You all foun to be good? Beagley

  7. Hmmm.... so I need approximately 109629349629364987 square feet of space for this garage? What about a 5 axis CNC machine? I've always wanted one of those. Good idea for the vaulted ceiling though. I do plan on putting a lift in one bay.
  8. Interesting...... its a 6 car garage, 3 x 2 with the back row of 3 as the "work shop" area.

  11. I have an idea of what would make for a good workshop, but in reality what do you guys have as far as space and area that you have to actually build your cars. Here is an old school mspaint image of what I would like in a garage. http://usa7s.com/vb/picture.php?albumid=21&pictureid=111 Is this feasible?

  13. Don't know yet. Feels like ive been in the planning stage forever now. The big problem is I don't have a place to build it. My wife and I are "hoping" to move in the next couple of years at which time I have already begun petioning for a bigger garage or detached workshop at which point my build will begin. My motor will probably come down to what I can find readily and the cost. I've got several ideas that I would like to use. I'm always up for some good discussions on which engines people use and why. For instance.... I've read a build log using Ford's 2 liter Duratec which was then supercharged for that "little" extra. Did a great job http://gtslocost.locostsites.co.uk/ I've seen several using the S2k motor which are pretty awesome . I though that using the supercharged LSJ engine which was used in the 2005 - 2007 Cobalt SS. A step up from that would be the turbo charged LNF engine which was used from 2008 on in the same car. Fairly small power plants but produced a decent amount of power in their stock form. You could go crazy and add all the extras but wouldn't be necessary. The L67 mentioned earlier is fairly easy to find, but they are rather large and heavy. edit: Then you also have the 13b and Renesis wankles to use...... I've even though about using some motorcycle engines, but the thought of running down the highway at 9,000 rpm doesn't sound like much fun. But blasting around a track does..... I guess I should just build 2 cars then huh? Now, if I had limitless funds I would definitely be using the Hartley H1 v8. http://www.h1v8.com What are some engine chioces any of you guys have done and what reasons did you pick it? I haven't seen too much on alternative engine designs either (I'm not opposed to running an EV or something like that). Sorry for the looooooooong rambling post. Beags
  14. So it seems that the benefits of setting up a dry sump system (less friction in crankcase, no possibility of oil starvation, better control of oil temp and delivery) outweight the cons (extra weight of pump and oil, complexity with extra hoses, slight draw of hp from running the pump from the belt). Would that be a correct statement? I really want to develop a fairly bullet resistant (bullet proof is impossible) engine that goes like mad and will just work. I have grand ideas of what I want the engine bay to look like, but time will tell if thats realistic. Thanks for the replies 7evin, what else do you know and are able to tell without fear of punishment?
  15. Not that it makes sense for me to do it on my build, but I am interested in how you develop and/or decide to use a dry sump system. Do you have a build log of your car(s). What made you decide to use the s2000 engine? I've always thought they were a bit tall for use in a 7. Is yours track only? How do you determine how many lines and pumps are necessary? Is it a magic mathematical formula or is it based on the amount of oil that needs to be sent to the individual channels? I aplogize if I ask 19187642 questions, but I am quite a curious little boy, at least thats what my mom used to tell me. Thanks, Beags
  16. I like this idea.... another one would be to sell a kit with multiple remote mics so that you could stick one in the engine bay or by the exhaust so you get that full throttle buzz going on, then one behind the mirror, maybe by the rear tire for some good ole squealing going around a corner.... would make for a fun video with a little bit of editing. You could tie all of the different audio streams together using the time that they were captured so that you don't get one of those 70s martial arts movie things going on.
  17. Maybe he could open his own firm helping all of the 7 owners get out of speeding tickets and whatnot..... sounds like it could be pretty lucrative. Seriously though, thanks for what you do regarding helping people with the VA and all, I'm not a big fan of bureaucracy. Beags
  18. How about TRK ETR (track eater) or better yet.... TRK KLR (track killer)
  19. That thing is gorgeous...... I especially love the clean look of the engine bay. I've seen some that look like an octopus orgy going on, well done to that owner/builder. Edit: You should buy it Twobone.... It'll look nice in your garage

  21. So then this http://usa7s.com/vb/picture.php?albumid=18&pictureid=95 is really what the set up is like, except with more pumps.
