  1. Some notable, beautiful vehicles... --Bob Collum
  2. Proof positive that it was a circus today at Katie's... That's a fiberglass replica of a VW bus, driving on its side. Made by the same guy (SpeedyCop) that brought you the Toyota van with the Cessna airplane body. Both are 24 Hours of Lemons racers. Michael D. was there, with his Caterham Seven still for sale... --Bob Collum
  3. OK, here are some more pictures of that same car today... --Bob Collum
  4. The Nomad is a resto-mod, done by a previous owner. Several body mods, including a frenched-in radio antenna nacelle, with a Chevy 350 and Corvette Rallye wheels. The current owner said it had sat for many years, and needed a lot of cleaning up and detail work to get it roadworthy again. He said he plans on re-painting it in more-original colors. (I like it as it is.) --Bob Collum
  5. Torrential rain pretty much all day Friday meant there were flooded-out roads around the area Saturday morning. We had some people show up at Katie's, anyway. We were fortunate that it didn't rain at all from 5:30AM to about 7:30AM. Attendance was light, but we still saw some interesting vehicles, including a '56 Chevy wagon we'd never seen before! Kevin K showed up, but without his Kurtis... --Bob Collum
  6. It rained last night. Quite a lot. Good: At 70F, it was 9 degrees cooler this morning than yesterday morning for Katie's. Not as good: The roads were a bit damp, and it was humid. Still, the faithful came out. We had a pretty good turnout today - very diverse. You can't much complain about having a Lamborghini Murcielago, a painfully-original VW bus, a genuine '32 Ford roadster, a bagged vintage Caddy, and a Beck Spyder, all at the same place. --Bob Collum
  7. I was away at the beach the last two weeks, so it was good to get back. Today was an excellent example of what is so interesting about Katie's Cars & Coffee - terrific cars & people! Side note: Michael D was there with his Seven... and it's for sale: http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?11646-2000-Caterham-DeDion-For-Sale --Bob Collum
  8. I'd say that the Fairfax Circle C & C is 'back'. We had about 20 cars there today. I met Mark Franke there at 8:00AM. (Cameron's, the coffee/chocolate/bakery there, doesn't open until 8:00AM, so this is not an ultra-early event.) --Bob Collum

Take Route 95 to either Route 100 or Route 32 From Rt. 100 : Follow 100 west to 29 south to 108 west. Stay on 108 west. Make a left onto Harpers Farm Rd. At the third light Harpers Farm Rd becomes Homewood Rd. stay straight. Follow the direction from * For those using Google Directions: If you are instructed to turn on Castlebridge Rd do not turn. Instead go to the next right turn which is my driveway and turn into driveway and follow it to the house at the end of the drive Among Kevin McGovern's stable is a beautiful Prisoner Edition Seven. As you can see below, several local Sevens show up. They somehow even let Michael D. in with a shady substitute, while his Seven was inoperational. Come on out - just RSVP to Kevin.
  10. A great turnout today. Strangely, this is the first time we have had people park down the both sides of the entrance road from Georgetown Pike, across from the fire station. It only left a single, narrow lane to get in or out. --Bob Collum
  11. A small but enthusiastic group showed up on this beautiful day. Good variety - a Lamborghini, an Audi R8 Spyder, a Shelby Mustang, etc., etc... --Bob Collum
  12. It rained early this morning, but cleared up by 5:30AM. That always causes people to arrive later than usual to cars & coffee. I arrived at my usual time, and was the first one there, by almost 10 minutes. Michael D. had his Seven there, and it's for sale - http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?11551-2000-Caterham-For-Sale --Bob Collum
  13. Father's day at Fairfax Circle (Cameron's). We only had a total of about 12 cars there this morning, but it did include 3 NoVA Lotus members (though not all at once...) Greg Smoak brought his VW bug, and Bob Scates drove his Esprit. --Bob Collum
  14. Another beautiful morning, another terrific turnout at Katie's. It still astounds me that we regularly have vehicles none of us have seen before! (That gold Alvis certainly qualifies!) The last picture is of a couple of my favorite cars there today. (I think I have windshield envy!) --Bob Collum
  15. I will be at Katie's on 06/10, but not on 6/17. I'd love to have a much of Sevens there!!! (Maybe more? We've had three Sevens at a GYLO there before, more than once. Never more than three. Sounds like we can have a REALLY big Seven turnout for Kevin McGovern's party this fall!) Congrats on your purchase, Dermot! --Bob Collum
  16. Correct! This is a recreation of the Low Drag Coupe. According to what the owner told us, this might be the car (the registration matches, anyway) - http://sia-group.co.uk/2015/01/team-nero-1962-jaguar-e-type-3-8-litre-low-drag-coupe/ --Bob Collum
  17. Here is one reason I think Katie's is worth getting up early every Saturday. First, a 'steampunk' rat rod. Second, who knows what this car is? --Bob Collum
  18. Some fabulous vehicles at Katie's today. This small sampling just scratches the surface. New & old, large & small. --Bob Collum
  19. The one that showed up yesterday belongs to the really nice guy who used to own the local Ferrari dealer. We have actually had two show up on the same day... The 'second' F40 has an aftermarket dual-element rear wing. --Bob Collum
  20. A terrific turnout on this holiday weekend. --Bob Collum
  21. All I recall was, the track day was at a track near Pittsburgh... - ?
  22. Some pictures from the Barber Museum on Saturday. I just love the 1:1 plastic mold tree of the Seven on display. It reminds me of the backdrop used on Top Gear, several years ago. Dean Giacopazzi's Seven. Ron Flier, posing with a Cosworth engine. If you know Ron, ask him about why he is 'touching' the Cosworth! Finally, a bunch of Sevens - up front at the concours! --Bob Collum
  23. Al: I was unable to bring my Seven; we drove the Elise. I hope to have both at Cleveland (where LOG 38 will be held August 10th thru 13th in 2018). Maybe we can meet then! --Bob Collum
  24. I have a lot of pictures left to be processed; will post some when I get home. Here's day 1, at Talladega Superspeedway... --Bob Collum
  25. We were lucky enough last Sunday (for GYLO) to have no rain. We were not quite at lucky today at Katie's. It was 49 degrees when I arrived at 5:30AM - it was still 49 degrees when I went home at 7:30AM. I met a couple of friends for breakfast, and we left when it became apparent that most people stayed away. Still, there were some interesting vehicles... --Bob Collum
