xcarguy Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 My hood fly moment... The Caterham driver should have tried the 'magic hand' wave.......of course, I suppose letting off the gas also helped.
scannon Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I thought I was the only fool to have this happen. I left both latches open on the driver's side and headed down the "drag strip" road behind my house. At about 40 mph I saw the left side of the hood start to lift, jumped on the brakes, pulled off and got out and latched them. I had a passenger and it was an embarrassing moment. Worse yet I was driving across Colorado on I-70 and pulled into a gas station for a short break. When I tried to start the car, nothing. I removed the hood and placed it on the bikini top, paint side down while I was troubleshooting the problem. It was a calm day but a sudden burst of wind lifted it off the car and slammed in into the asphalt. Minor paint damage and some bends I was able to smooth out but a couple of small dings and scratches remain.
