Yeti Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Is there a standard location for the washer fluid bottle to be mounted? Does anyone have a picture of their mounting? Thanks
slomove Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Is there a standard location for the washer fluid bottle to be mounted? Does anyone have a picture of their mounting? Thanks This giant bottle was the first thing that I removed. I have been driving in rain quite often on our longer tours and never missed it. The wipers however were critical and these tiny things work surprisingly well. When I received the car, the bottle was here on the firewall: http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=11896&stc=1
Yeti Posted October 26, 2016 Author Posted October 26, 2016 Thank you slomove. That is where I figured it would be. My car has an expansion tank in that location. I have space on the other side over the battery for a very small one. I'm just not thrilled with the location.
wemtd Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Do you really need it? I keep my wiper blades in the boot for long drives just in case. It's not like we're driving through mud puddles.
Dan3030 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I agree. I have never used the wiper fluid. When I have any trouble I just use Windex when I get home. Unless it's required to meet local DoT, I'd just leave it out, IMHO. Come to think of it, I should drain mine to add some lightness as 1 gallon = 8 lbs. Do you really need it? I keep my wiper blades in the boot for long drives just in case. It's not like we're driving through mud puddles.
Yeti Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 Velcro might work. I was thinking whoopy cushion and surgical tubing. I velcro it to the side of the footwell and activate it with my knee.
rzempel Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 DoT requirement. One of the easier ones. Does it have to be installed, or can you show the inspector a rag and spray bottle of windex? It's not that big a stretch to reach the front of the windshield while in the driver's seat.
Yeti Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 Installed. They don't have much of sense of humor or imagination.
