R1 Seven
Greetings 'Seveners'... R&G is really becoming a great meeting place fr Sevens. We, ( Stalker's) really enjoyed meeting you all. You can take a couple of laps here..a bit blurry, but you can get the general idea.... http://www.bruntonauto.com/RG2.wmv Cheers, Dennis Thanks for sharing, Dennis. After seeing John at the GRM event, and some of your in-car, it makes me want to get behind the wheel of one of those 400hp sledgehammers. Good stuff! I guess it is John that is making the big HP then. 269 with lots of torque can't be bad. Good job at the Run 'n Gun to you guys!
powderbrake
THANKS DENNIS. Now I have the correct line for Gateway!!!! I had already picked up your line for the decreasing radius turn, now I'm looking at changing my line into 1 & 2. Can't wait for next year !! Yes, wings are legal. Your class is determined by type of tire ( stickiness) and engine size ( big block, small block, 4 &6, and power adder ( blown or nitrous)
kreb
FWIW, it's great to hear all this positive commentary coming from all corners of the community. There's an ongoing rivalry between the WCM Ultralites and the Stalkers - and that's a good thing. Throw in the Locosts, Viking, Deman, et cetera, and the community really seems to be blossoming. I'm not sure if there is a rivalry, so much as a "friendly competition" Having met so many owners of different marques of sevens, I can attest to their friendliness and support. The Stalkers and Ultralites typically have a little more HP than some others, and they turned up at Run N Gun in more quantity, but the SR27 and turbo engined Locosts are their match or more in HP. Interestingly, the tires on the car seem to have the greatest effect on the lap speed. At a triathalon event like Run N Gun, the tires will even out the HP race. A lower HP seven on slicks will beat my Ultralite on street tires on the road course. Of course the better drivers also migrate towards slicks, have more experience, and that also has a huge effect on lap times. For a lot of good pics of Run N Gun, from a Cobra viewpoint, see the Run N Gun forum, and click on the pictures threads. Run N Gun forum
kreb
Rivalry, friendly competition, either one works. I loved my Stalker, but drooled over WCMs as well. The point is that there's nothing but good feelings going about and that's great. The difference between 13" diameter 10" wide slicks and 205 section 15" street tires is immense. In terms of lap times, I think that it was good for 4 or 5 seconds on most tracks, but it felt like more. Kinda like playing football in cleats versus tennis shoes! Hey Berk, In my experience, an improvement that feels like 4 or 5 seconds, usually times out at .4 or .5 :-{) chrs, Dennis
Boxologist
the info of the event has been posted over to the SCCA D/E mod yahoo group a few days ago. hopefully there will be some more entries next year. a 13"slick normally runs an inch smaller outside diameter than a 15" street or R comp tyre. 22 vs 23 inches.
