Anyone get the first gen iPhone?

I've been a Mac person since late 80s (the all in ones in the rectangular box)...and finally saw them in person at the apple store last week.

 

So thin!

 

I told myself I was going to wait for the second gen (bigger drive, better battery, cheaper price, etc.)...but could be convinced otherwise....

Being a long time Mac guy too, I'm tempted, but Cingular has lousy service in my area.

 

Also, I got stuck with the first generation "hand's free" device and swore I wouldn't jump the gun on new technology anymore:

Per article in the Tuesday NYTimes: A security firm found a security hole in the iPhone by which a hacker can remotely control the iPhone, dump all the personal info and even make calls! :crazy:

 

Then in the Wednesday NYTimes: AT&T states that there have been only 146,000 phone activations of the IPhone.

 

Sales of the iPhone were to be announced yesterday.

i got to play with a friends iPhone tuesday night:cool:

he hates it. cool technology, and an awesome screen, but does not have enough productivity functions to work as a halfway decent PDA replacement. another friends Sidkick 3 and treo 700 are far superior in that regard. what i found most disturbing was the lack of back up ability, removable media, and cut and paste ability when web surfing.

Apple announced Wednesday that 246,000 iPhones sold in the second quarter. They expect 1 million units to sell by the end of the year .. and 10 millions by end of 2008.
