Kitcat
Per the latest Autoweek, they have sold 20,000 of these little semi-se7ens! That puts all of the established se7en mfgs to shame. It could be that the market for se7ens is robust, but the steep entry price scares buyers off? The Slingshot sells for $20K in base form, assembled AND with an engine. It tops out in the mid $30's. Not sure how they would fare head to head with a se7en on the track: one less wheel has to hurt. Still, with a 0-60 time under 5 seconds they have some scoot. Croc
Its easier to be cheap if you can mass produce enough quantity. What is more astounding is that the market is so big to sell that many. I bet you could do bigger volumes if you got a seven down to that price range with turn key feature, ease of title and registration and a high level of quality. Its not just price that is challenging but after sales service, high strung nature, and the absolute pain to title and register and comply with emissions. pksurveyor
The low price makes Polaris attractive. But how many of the buyers are as loyal as the Seven owners in a few years from now?
papak
Aren't they treated as motorcycles for licensing?
sevenup
I have driven one and it was surprisingly tame....but could never get past the juvenile johnny rocket styling...as I recall they are treated differently by state as either a motorcycle or other...
