you guys might find this interesting (posted on Blatchat today...)

If what i'm hearing is correct Neil Booth's Westfield Megabusa ran 9.8 secs @ 152 mph at TOTB VI in the unlimited drag class using a 1300cc Hayabusa turbo tuned to an astonishing 650 bhp using standard box and diff eek smileyeek smiley

I'd say 3 sub 10-second passes max, without maintenance or teardown of any part of the drivetrain.

I haven't seen the car, but if it really is putting down 650 horses, the car can't be that small. I think the bike runs about similar numbers (less MPH).

The fact that it can even hold for one pass is very impressive.

Dragging my car is among the first things I'll get to when the cage goes in. I will be very happy with mid 10's on R compounds. 9.8 is just insane.

:skep: I'll be the first to say it. I don't believe it.:skep:

I believe he's got 350 hp and a Westfield Megabusa should run 10's with it. I remember a Rush busa-turbo that put out about 350hp and turbo kits for bikes say around 300 hp or so.

I have a vid of a 1500cc turbo-busa Radical that set the track record at the Nurburgring and I believe it had about 350hp.

Anythings possible but until someone posts a dyno run of the motor, then I will say I'm WRONG and GREAT JOB but until then...650hp:rolleyes:

Couple of things:

1- 650hp for busa sounds unreal

2- His MPH is good enough for 8's which would be more consistant with the claimed power level

3- Someone on the blatchat thread said the guy's top speed with his tires and gearing is exactly 152, so it is possible he was at that speed way before hitting the quarter mile. If that's the case, it also explains the higher than expected speed for a 9.8 second run.

Hi All

Neil Booth here, i own the Westfield Megabusa Turbo you are all talking about. I ran at the TOTB6 competition last weekend and the times are correct. You will all find this hard to believe but the car is capable of going into the very low 9,s and possibly high 8.s at Santa Pod on a glued track with a terminal of 160+mph. I raced against Tim Webster in the final who has the fastest Skyline in Europe and led up to the 1st 1/8th but as this was my first run this year i had not increased my boost in the low gears and lacked acceleration in the mid section. The car has everything power wise the top drag bikes have and for a look at the car go on the Tubo Dynamics website under news and open up the pdf files. The power is capped at 540bhp / 308 ft/lbs at 1.9bar at moment with another 100bhp available depending on which Turbo i use and boost pressure.

The magazines have been very interested in the car since and are saying that it is the fastest 7 in Europe, what do ya think?

Sweet!

I will look for details on your car. How much does it weigh, and what's your rear weight bias? Also, what safety equipment is required in the UK for an 8 second car?

I don't think there are any sevens in the US that could touch those times either.

Maybe when Bob gets his turbo nissan powered seven dialed in, he'll come close, but it takes alot more than just power to get into the 8's.

Or, if I add another 200 horses... but the wife might suspect something if a big turbo is hanging outside the engine bay :leaving:

Hi All

The car weighs in at 400kg and without the driver has a power to weight ratio of around 1350bhp per ton.Not sure on the rear bias. Recieved today my new rear Nitron shocks ( 3 way adj ) which should enable me to get much more grip in the first 60ft which will improve my times further along with some wastegate mods and further Turbo mods from Turbo Dynamics. I am doing further testing in a couple of weeks on the TOTB track so i will let you know if the times get quicker.

Just received a message indirectly from Dave Edmands who owns the fastest Caterham in the World who sends his congratulations, he runs a 320 Hart Engine BDA in his and has run 10.15sec on a glued Santa Pod track.

Anyone have any contacts in the US for magazines as i would love to do a full article for you guys to read. Also has anyone Dave Edmands e mail address?
