This has been a great tour. We have had a few trying moments like getting stuck behind a boat:

...and getting stuck in traffic two blocks from the hotel!

FYI, in this pic, we are sitting in traffic, and have been for 30minutes. We have the engine off, as we have only gone 1/2 of a block in that 30 minutes!

On the bright side, we did have great weather and there were some fun roads. We also got a warm welcome in Kelowna from Greg and his family:

Greg, many thanks for your hospitality! We look forward to seeing you again tomorrow!

Nice to see everyone having fun and with no engine problem.

How many miles you guys have driven ?

One reason I will switch from my Bec to a more reliable hONDA s2000.

Been towed a few times with my Bec on variety of reasons.

I'm going to use as much stock parts from Honda to get the durability.

I invy those 7 that can be driven far away from home and back to family at 9pm.

Anyone would like to comment on the reliability and durability issue on the 7 ?

Which motor is more stable and reliable?

When you really decide to sell your BEC drivetrain, let me know. I may be interested if money allows and timing works.

Alot of the various drivetrains are fairly durable. The closer you stay to stock, the more likely you won't have any trouble.

Just reading the posts here for the last couple of years, common problems are coolant lines, stuck throttle, etc... not major engine / tranny problems.

In my case, so far I probably have 6-7K on my drivetrain (most of those with my old toyota rear, before I upgraded), with no problems whatsoever - those miles include about 1000 miles after putting on warmed over head/cam package. Of course, my engine probably is wondering when I'm gonna actually connect it to a car, so it'll have something to pull :D

It was great meeting you all on Friday! Kind of weird because I knew absolutely NONE of you before hand. I was MOST impressed at how accepting you are of non-Caterhams. Y'all just love 7's, regardless of where they cam from! Thanks also for the kind words on my locost.

If you're up this way again sometime, ring me up, eh?!

Including today's drive up to whistler we got about 1600 miles from Vacaville, which is about half of the trip.

**knock on wood** why should the engines not be reliable when they last for a few 100k miles in a normal car. We have Crossflow, my Zetec ZX1, one ZX2, 2 Duratecs, a VX and a Miata engine on tour. Several of them are somewhat tuned but AFAIK no pure race engines with crazy compression or boost. Obviously there are a few things that may fall off from a Seven like alternator brackets and similar customized pieces. But so far nothing serious, only that exhaust to be welded, a luggage bracket (also welded), a side mirror, the broken wheel and 2 new tires due to suspension misalignment.
