Wanted: Crossflow Oil Sump

I have what I think is a Capri sump on my 1600 crossflow in my CAT.  The oil drain is the lowest point, and has now scraped to the point of dripping.  Before I bite the bullet and buy and ship the Redline sump from the UK, I wanted to check if anyone with a CAT has converted to dry sump and has a good sump they may want to sell.  The Caterham style sump is what I'm looking for, seems this doesn't have the low oil drain that mine has.

As reference, this is the sump on my 1997 Caterham 1600 crossflow. I think it's original to the engine as supplied by Caterham, but it's a wonky thing that appears to have been cut down from a standard pan like yours by cutting off the bottom, welding a flat sheet to the bottom and bending up in the front. This gives it another inch or so clearance. It works, but it is fragile. Since the bottom is flat, it bends up pretty easily when it hits anything. When dented, it tends to obstruct the oil pickup leading to low oil pressure. I know this from experience. Sorry I don't have any photos of the inside baffling. If you have a decent fabricator, they could likely do something like this, although a dry sump would be nice.

My Series 1 Lotus 7 vintage racer has the BMC 948cc motor, so it’s different from your Crossflow. In the assortment of parts that came with the car was an oil pan with a flat metal panel/plate welded to it’s bottom. There were scrapes on the panel from hitting things, but the pan itself wasn’t damaged. The car, in race from, sits closer to the ground than my Caterham. I assume the plate was added for protection during off track excursions. Just an idea ——————-

I have a spare Crossflow oil sump that I may be willing to part with. Can you tell me how deep your current sump is?

Thanks all.  Mine seems to be 6.5in from gasket flange to the flat of the pan.  I just ordered a new sump from Redline last week, they have a welded up version like you show in your picture, but thicker metal.
