IamScotticus
These are available at Caterham. Should work on Escorts and T9s https://caterhamparts.co.uk/clutch-cables/2568-clutch-cable-lhd-de-dion-vxrv-and-live-axle-95.html They aren't known for reliability (First Line FKC1020)so get a few. They shear at the eyelet crimp. If anyone knows a better cable, chime in.
MV8
I think the main cause of early clutch cable failure is the pedal adjustment. Dr. Hasegawa was talking about that a few months ago. If the eye is not free to rotate, the cable will bend back and forth near the crimp, fatigue, and fail.
inchoate
interesting. my t9 was converted to hydraulic but every now and then i think about going back to the cable.
MV8
A cable can be much longer lasting than a hydraulic system. I have 365k on a car with the original cable but I've been through many miata clutch masters and slaves with far fewer miles. The cable design could also be improved with three inches or so of semi-rigid sleeving support to make it more difficult to bend close to the shank shoulder and add years to the useful life of the cable.
gpalmer77
Better still, there is a clutch pedal available with a fork type mount for the cable eyelet. I upgraded mine after the previous owner warned me of cable failure. Still carry spares for clutch and throttle cables though.
IamScotticus
Is that available from Cat? They tend to list parts by car model designation. What model is is?
gpalmer77
https://caterhamparts.co.uk/pedals/1241-clutch-pedal-de-dion-all-lhd-only.html?search_query=clutch+pedal&results=152 Shows as out of stock, similar to when I bought last year. I wait-listed myself and was notified when they had some. Slightly different sideways kick than was installed in my car, but I was re-spacing my pedals anyway. Top yoke is perfect. They sent me the wrong size top clevis pin, but I was able to source one locally.
