slngsht
Great weather, great roads, no traffic. I'm too tired to do a full writeup. slngsht
Well, I'm back home :hurray: WHAT A TRIP. We put 300 miles on the cars from Harrisonburg to Snowshoe and back, plus another 5 hrs of driving to get to Harrisonburg for Scott, Bob, and me. The weather was FANTASTIC, although Sunday morning in the mountains was 35 degrees. brrrr... There was very little traffic on the way, some GREAT roads, ranging from rolling country road to switchbacks up and down mountains. There were no cops, and on most occasions we came up on anyone, they waived us by. To top it off, with speed limit at 55, we didn't have to go way over the speed limit. The locals were very friendly, and we got to answer alot of questions about the cars. As usual, I had a guy in a MR2 coming up next to me and say "Let's see if this thing is fast" I did give him a short blast in 2nd after telling him I'm not interested in racing. Besides that car, we met up with a Miata and a Supra on different occasions - many friendly conversations. Bob's car was on its maiden run. I'll let him comment on it when he gets a chance. Overall, his car did great, with no major problems. Steve and his friend (I won't butcher her name) took tons of pics, so that should be forthcoming. This is gonna be an annual event. slngsht
Oh, the funniest thing about the trip was the Saturday night BBQ. I forgot the charcoal, and had to buy some there. The damn stuff just would not start. We had had a few beers by then, and let's just say the solution involved beer bottles and 93 octane gasoline :leaving:
Mandurath
Sounds fun! As a side note about non starting charcoal. After a bike ride, we got home a few summers back and ours wouldn't light either. So the wives go to the store to get more lighter fluid. Oh nooooo, we would't wait! So we used citronella. It did a good job in getting fire started, and chasing bugs away. It also imparted a foul citronella taste to our burgers. Wives wouldnt eat them, and we did out of shere bravado. Man they were nasty. Though to this date i rarely have a problem with mosquito's.

Mazda, you sure you bought charcoal and not the ceramic bricks for the gas grill? They look almost the same... Gert P.S.: Ask me how I know
BusaLoco
Kinda reminds me of a beach party (from my demented youth). Needless to say it was raining and our fire just wouldn't start. We tried dry kindling ... no go! Crumpled newspaper ... No joy! We tried BBQ lighter fluid ... wouldn't even smoke! Finally we brought out the Big Gun ... Newfoundland Screech (Very Overproof Rum) ... Voila ... Spontanious Combustion! PS Personally, I wouldn't drink the stuff but it's a sure fire "Fire Starter"! Arya Ebrahimi
Glad to see everyone made it back safely. I wish there had been an opportunity for me to ride along, but that's how she goes sometimes. I made it back safely, crawler in tow (well my roommate towed it, but same difference) at about 8pm. Mazda, we need to talk about some trailer mods Good to see everyone again, looking forward to your next outing that I can attend
Al N.
I'm glad the weather took a turn for the better for you guys....looks like I missed out on a fun time. I got my car inspected, finally...had forgotten a form when I went last time and just this Sat got around to going back...in the rain (before it cleared to blue sky), natch. Classic exchange I want to share (sorry for thread jack, Steve, get your pix up ASAP!!!) at the MVC....I'm waiting for them to process my papers and this guy comes in, British expat, from his accent. He asked "Is that your Caterham out there?" To which I say "Yes." And he mumbles, half under his breath, "Damn, I feel so soft right now." After getting my new collector decal, I go out to the cars and see him get into a brand new Carrera 4S. Damn right you're soft, softie...:jester:

Al N.
Thanks for the pix... Without naming names or mph, what was the pace like and how'd did Steve's guest like the sort of "spirited driving" I know can happen when more than one Se7en get together? stevet
She loved it. I kept hearing 'faster, faster' from the passenger seat. The pace was quick, but not silly. The bar-b-que was the exact opposite of that

BobDrye
The first time that went thru some fairly sharp turns I precipitously found that the screws that hold the rear rotors to the hats would hit the steel caliper brackets and lock one rear tire causing me to spin. For the rest of the trip my governor was a clicking sound coming from the rear when we cornered hard. My exhaust is dampened by springs by the rear tire and a bracket broke (I was following my parts supplier, Steve) and it was repaired quickly with a large hose clamp. I must state that I carried over $1000.00 worth of tools and some spare parts. :ack: Saturday night again "Sir Steve" came to the rescue, and taught us how to build a fire. This had to be a trying experience as we were all tired and were consuming strange liquids. The weather reports said that the Sunday morning low would be 45 degrees. I slept on the couch and at first light I looked out and thought that we had experienced fall first snow because there was so much frost on the grass. We had parked our sevens outside and at 9:00 AM there was still frost on them. More too follow!!! :blueangel:

slngsht
I know were measuring in Kph, so no worries...:jester: Actually, there was really not much speeding involved. honest. I did have a few blasts to pass a few cars (in the upcoming video - stay tuned), but generally, we did 60 to 65 MPH, and speed limit was 55 MPH, even though recommended speed through some of the corners was as low as 20.
