geoz3
My project car has a under hood heater, small exchange box and 3 speed fan, I removed the in car directional box that switched from windshield defrost to footbox direction, I'm thinking of removing the under hood setup, but thought I could use it to dissipate engine water heat, and allow the car to run cooler, does it make sense? MV8
Only if it runs cooler with the heater valve open and the heater fan on high speed. What are the cooling issues? Around town in traffic? Highway? How hot? Radiator flushed? Pics of the cooling system might help to figure it out. Edited June 4, 2023 by MV8

No issues, I have not run it in heavy traffic yet, I just thought it may help to bleed off heat, run cool. LOL I'll test the effect on my next run. inchoate
When the previous owner of my car first got his hands on it back in the late 80s it would run very hot in any kind of traffic. The answer was to turn on the heater full blast. I got to experience that a few times when I got to go for rides, it was less than pleasant. He built a shroud for the radiator and it was never a problem after that.
geoz3
I'm looking at venting from the heater outlet, to outside the car.
coffee break
Fan shrouds are good if there are cooling issues.

Nice detail in the construction of the bonnet with ribbing, returned edges, integral support bar and remote latch.

The guys who built the car back in the 80"s did a fantastic job, no bolts for most things that fasten, taped hole with machine screws. It's been fun putting it back together. jbcollier
Fix the problem, running the heater to cool the car is just a band-aid.

jbcollier
Flipping on the heater is a good idea in an emergency (failed electric fan, etc). You suffer, but you are suffering for a cause you believe in.
