One major problem that many people didn't realize or didn't care who used VT to register is that while VT let you do it your car was never 100% legal on the road and if you got into accident coverage could be denied. Croc knows the minutia but in short the Reg/your residence and your state of insurance all have to match. VT would let you register but your insurance and your residence would always be your own state and be a mismatch. One reason why I never bothered.
