nc7s4 Posted Tuesday at 02:24 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:24 PM Hello Folks, I am preparing my WCM to compete in SCCA Super Production. The car needs a couple things to comply with SCCA GCR (General Competition Rules) safety requirements. Today the car will be gone over by a registered scrutineer but I already know it's going to need a couple things - Fire system (including 2 outlets - one in engine bay, one in driver compartment) - FIA fuel cell For the fuel cell situation, I am looking for a custom solution to reproduce the existing shape and size that the WCM has. The gas tank it came with fits very nicely and leaves room in the back for luggage. The existing tank has been fixed up since I got the car and the images below were taken. It is in fine working order, but will never be FIA rated etc. Does anyone here know who might be able to build such a thing? The alternative is getting a pre-made boxy one but I like the existing tank shape & mounting arrangement. Here is a picture of the existing tank, and a drawing that I made of it SCCA Requirements:
7Westfield Posted Tuesday at 03:50 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:50 PM If you are looking to run it this year, a pre built one is probably the only option. Last time I had a cell made-a couple of years ago- it was 3 or 4 months wait, and that was over the winter....I dealt with Pyrotect, very nice and savvy folks 541-504-0340 They could take your existing tank and build a bladder inside it ATL/Fuelsafe seemed to be less interested in custom work, price was higher Eagle (my first choice) told me they aren't doing automotive any more---way behind on aircraft orders

Let's see how much this is going to cost!!! Exciting!
MV8 Posted Tuesday at 09:45 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:45 PM A mounting cradle can be designed to go between a standard boxy tank and the original tank attachment points.

Looking like this might be the way. First quote I got back was $6000 for a retrofit of the original WCM tank.
MV8 Posted Wednesday at 04:30 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:30 PM This looks doable: https://pitstopusa.com/products/atl-formula-sports-racer-pod-bladder-6-gallon-5-x-8-x-36-2-1-4-filler-neck-fia-ft3?gad_source=5&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8KLr3a3ziwMVKp9aBR2AzR7gEAQYASABEgITLvD_BwE

Might make more sense to do SCCA spec racer Ford from a money standpoint. But the WCM has come this far, its getting pushed over the finish line for tech. Hopefully the next company that is quoting it comes back much lower.... or else it gets a pre-made option.
