Hello. I am new to the scene, so please excuse the novice question. I am starting to restore a 1989 Caterham 1700 Super Sprint. I need formed coolant hoses (upper and lower), replacement switches, a fuel level sending unit, clutch slave cylinder etc. Is there a US-based distributor of Caterham parts that would be able to help me?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome!

For Caterham parts, reach out to Bruce at Beachman Racing, and Josh at Rocky Mountain Caterham.

Assuming you have a Crossflow engine, Dave Bean Engineering and Pegasus Auto Racing are good sources for engine parts.

Samco has kits for you.

 They're quite ridiculous.

They have two kits, one for 1600 and for 1700.  The exact same engine, one isn't different than the other.

Never mind they are without heater, order matching colour hose separately. There should be some USA based dealers.

for this age 7, I would consider getting a water pump from NAPA TFW 42050.

Pegasus has many engine parts for Crossflow

These book are excellent resources for seveners

Use High zinc / ZDDP oil.  Valvoline VR1 20W50 can be found at most Wally Worlds

Welcome!!

Don't purchase hoses, yet.

What cooling system does your original build have?

If it's the original "partial loss" system (no pressurized expansion tank) consider rebuilding the system!!

IamScotticus is a walking encyclopedia on many things Kent engined Sevens and he pretty much coached me  through rebuilding my cooling system.

I am driving my 1999, 1700 Super Sprint very spirited over High Elevation Passes in Colorado or stop and go traffic in Denver and it has NEVER missed a beat.

The cooling system, Thanks to Scott, has been extremely reliable.

If you want to go that route, very few of the original hoses will work.

Also the stuff Caterham offers on its website might be slightly different than what you have on your car.

It will be a waste of money if you plan on a cooling system modification.

No worries, it's not a major project, but most definitely worth your while.

What shape is your engine in?

Cheers
