Reiver Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 Drove both 7's today as the sun was out and 70's....alike but dif. The r400 accelerates like it is supercharged...that's the way it feels....almost has a kick in feel. The Vaux HPC/2 45 DCOE's winds out but nicely. I was going to sell the HPC but I like it too damned much.... it is sweet and running very strong...so I'll keep it too. Both are titled as 67 Lotus's so tags are cheap and Grundy does the agreed value and that is not expensive...so.... twofer. I will say the lowered floor on the r400 makes a great difference in wind turbulence...both are 3 bodies. In the HPC I am looking thru the top 1/4 of the windscreen and on the r400 right at the center (both have street seats). That Inch or more really is significant. This with doors on both of them.... 1 1
Reiver Posted Monday at 10:23 PM Author Posted Monday at 10:23 PM Took the r400 out for a blat today. 70's/sunny just beautiful. I have this felony speeding route thru the desert where there is little to no traffic and you can see for miles. HWY 60 to Aguila and 71 cross over to 10. The 71 is thru BLM land and there are no houses/stops/cross over roads for miles and miles, desolate.. You can see for 10 miles in places. So, cruising at 90, drop a gear to 5th, and the damn thing jumps ahead like it's in first gear..... hits a ton like nothing. What fun. Pulled off for a pit stop and took a pic. 1
wdb Posted Monday at 11:02 PM Posted Monday at 11:02 PM Meanwhile on the east coast I managed to exercise the 7 in between Saturday's road-salt-cleansing rain and Sunday's snow squalls. Drove it all of 20 minutes, froze my face off.
Reiver Posted yesterday at 12:01 AM Author Posted yesterday at 12:01 AM (edited) Man, I hate salt...you can almost hear the rust forming. Winter is actually our best driving time.. Sept. thru May. I drive in the summer heat too but put the half hood on. I had an '83 911 I owned/worked on a few years back that had always been in the SW...never had a frozen bolt and no rust after 30 plus years.
