Prisoner Edition Caterham for sale - $36,000

For sale is a very rare LHD Crossflow Prisoner Special Edition.  Built as a kit in 1994, titled as a 1962 Lotus.  Standard chassis and floors. Four wheel disc brakes, dedion, bilsteins, 5 speed.  The Prisoner Edition included special wheels, red leather interior, a Prisoner replica paint scheme, and a commemorative plaque.  I have extensive documentation of the car as a Prisoner Edition, 42 of 47 cars. Total original miles is a bit over 4000.  The engine was fully rebuilt at the end of last summer by Ivey Racing in Portland.  The rebuild included a new crankshaft and cam as well as virtually every other internal component.  Dyno results showed 149+ HP, compared to a stock engine rating 0f 130-135.  Runs on pump gas.  During my 2 1/2 year owership the following were completed: new high performance tires were installed (including the spare), water pump, new clutch slave and master cylinders, full brake system bleed (I have a new un-installed brake master),  Transmission fluids and differential fluids were replaced, as well as coolant during the rebuild.  New coolant hoses.  Interior, body and paint are in very good original condition, as is the top, side "doors" etc.  I have a full weather top in excellent condition with the factory correct white piping.  The car is great fun to drive and I have lot of hours in making it roadworthy.  If you are interested send me a private message. I've seen another of these here in Charleston!  The first seven I'd seen.  The color combo is pretty cool in person.  I love that you have retractable seatbelts -- a better choice for a road car IMO

I wanted to reach out to you as soon as this happened and I'm using this post as I lost my phone and won't have a replacement until early next week.  We have a daughter that's a single mom with three young daughters.  She's run into a significant financial issue and we're going to have to step in to help.  I'm going to have to decline moving forward at this time.  I truly apologize for this situation but it's beyond our control and our family has to come first.  Once I have a phone I'll reach out to you to follow up  and apologize in person.

The car is still for sale.  I had an agreement in place for the sale but as you can see from the post just prior to yours the arrangement fell through due to a change in circumstances of the buyer.

Post update.  The Caterham is now back on the market after a sale that didn't close due to changed circumstances of the buyer.  Not an issue with the car in any way.  Since the weather here is quickly changing I would really like to re-home this great example of the marque...as previously noted it has about 4000 miles on it, I am the second owner, it has a well documented history (by Caterham) of it being number 42 of 47 Prisoner Special Edition Cars.  The engine had a complete rebuild last summer by Ivey Racing in Portland, Oregon.  I don't believe there is a better place for a Crossflow to be refreshed.  It now makes 149 HP compared to its original 130-135 and runs on pump gas.  Tires have under 1000 miles on the and were replaced by me about 2 years ago.  Its certainly not perfect but its in nice condition and a pleasure/hoot to drive.  Given the season if someone is able to move on it quickly I am willing to sell it for  $36k.
