Upgraded in-tank fuel pump for late-’90s K-series Caterham

I have a ‘99 Caterham with the 1.8 K-series VVC and the original tank and in-tank fuel pump. Later this year I’m swapping to a Esslinger stroked 2.3 Duratec and would like to upgrade the pump now while the K-series is still in the car.

Has anyone upgraded the pump in the original K-series carrier? I’ve seen the Walbro GSS242 mentioned.  I’m also looking at a DW200 255 LPH, since it’s readily available in the US.

What pump did you use, and how did you modify the original carrier?

Scott,

Would you please educate me on where this pump mounts?

I have an unused fuel tank for my 1991 deDion Caterham.  Unfortunately, I do not have the carrier.  The in-tank mounting port is not on the top of the tank, but on the car-right side (end?) of the tank.  I'd like to obtain a carrier.

The engine in the car is a Ford Zetec with Hayabusa injection.

On my car the pump assembly is in-tank and goes into the side of the tank so the tank has to come out for service/replacement.   I'm not sure about your year car but the assembly for mine came out of some Rover.

Perhaps if your tank is an original Caterham tank you could send a pic to Caterham and ask if they carry the assembly or have a cross reference that would work for yours.
