MHKflyer52 Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 What do you expect for recycled beer cans in a jousting tournament.
WestTexasS2K Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Seeing that reminded me of a medical run we went on about 8 years ago on a ranch. I guy that works for an oil company was heading out to check a well. There was a pipe that is hinged on a 10" steel post about 24" high and 20' long. He was driving down the road about 60 mph a gust of wind swung the post in front of him. It went in thru his headlight thru the cab, thru him and the seat, out the back of the quad cab and into the bed of the truck. It took us 1 hr to extricate him from the truck and transport to the hospital. He made a full recovery unbeleivable but true.

There are at least a couple of pics of similar accidents involving cars hitting safety rails by side of highways that were not terminated propely. [admin note: anyone who has seen these, please do not post here...]
scannon Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 I saw an early big block Camero that was racing on an unfinished freeway. The driver lost control at something over 90 mph and took an unterminated guardrail through the front grille. The guardrail moved the engine towards the passenger side, proceeded on through the firewall, dash board, driver, front and rear seats and out the rear of the car. The guardrail was still in the car when I saw it, sticking out a foot or so on both ends. They said they cut about 20' of guardrail from the rear of the car. Driver died, passenger was unhurt.
WestTexasS2K Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Yeah it was amazing he was barely bleeding it just missed his spine by about 2 in. his intestines just moved out of the way they were not damaged at all. He had a small laceration on his kidney and a big hole in front and back, but he was out of the hospital in 3 days.
