Fair Market Price

I'm interested in buying one of these fabulous cars! I found one locally and I have no idea what fair market price is.

Here's what the Ad says:

This Stalker V6 was completed in 2006. It Replicates the famous Lotus Super 7 but is much more refined and has much higher performance. It’s a gorgeous car with only 4,000 miles since new. If you’re looking for a car that’ll out perform most any production car on the road, this is it. 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds yet is so easy to drive on the street, it’s almost funny.

Powered by a 3.8 litre V6 of 260 HP and weighing only 1400 lbs. most every car on the road just can’t compete with the performance and handling. You can do the math but with just over 4 lbs./ HP it’s a real Rocket !!!! Do the research and you’ll see this car is truly in the “Supercar Class” when it comes to performance.

In addition, it has an impressive track record. Stalker V6’s placed very high in the “Run-N-Gun” Championships the last few years and beat most everything in sight in autocross and open track events and won the “Top Dog” award for it’s class. If you care to look at Brunton Automotive’s web page, you’ll see “in car” video of the car passing Corvettes and Porsche”s , on the track, at will. An amazing car with streetable manners.

This particular example has never been raced and is driven as a daily driver when the season permits. It’s equipped with dual heaters for colder climates and has numerous custom features that make it one of the better examples on the road today. Car builder has numerous aerobatic aircraft built to his credit and used the same level of craftsmanship to assemble this car. Although a small looking car, it can handle someone 6’+ with ease. All this and 35 MPG on the road !!!

What's would be a fair price for this vehicle?

If thats not a Super Stalker, he must have some pretty solid mods to the engine to get 260 hp out of it. If you scoll through the for sale section, most are asking in the 25k range for the Stalkers. Since thats about what it costs to build one anyway. Looks alot like one that was for sale here a bit ago and I think he was moving to that area. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=1763

I have a "normal" Stalker, can can vouch from the engine description that this is a Super Stalker, with the supercharged 3.8 engine. Recently one of our "guys" put his on a chassis dyno and was showing 247 hp at the rear wheels, so this car appears to be in line.

Price is difficult to decide, simply because it's the amount at which the buyer and seller reach agreement. Lots of variables, such as the reason for selling - just wants to move onto another car, or personal financial need.

One of the early cars changed hands due to the owner's illness.

I would say that somewhere in the low to mid-20k range would be within reason. Remember, the car was privately built (most likely) so there can be huge differences in the quality of the labor and the parts used. Having the car inspected (assuming it's in another part of the country) by someone familiar with Stalkers would be a good idea.

You might contact Dennis Brunton, the "father" of the Stalkers to see if he can supply you with the name of an owner in the area of the seller.

Good luck, they're a heck of a car! And yes, there have been a couple fitted with hot water heaters, but without a top or side curtains I would suspect they have limited value.

Thank you all for the information!

I'm going to try and get more information from the buyer. They did send me additional pictures from the Ad and it looks like a very fun car. I just want to research before I make an offer.

Here are the photo's that were sent to me.

That is Tim Whitakers car unless I am mistaken. From the pics I saw, its very well done. Its listed on about page 3 of the for sale section, I recognized the custom valve covers. Lots of pics of there, along with some prices, pretty fair imo.

With very little effort you can get near 300HP. Two of us put our Stalkers on the dyno yesterday at an SCCA open house here in Indy. I can vouch for the near 250 HP and he did not run it all the way up. His rev limiter is set at 5K and he was no where near that.

The amazing thing is the torque...It is so flat you can't believe it. All the autocross guys were freaking out.

The Supestalker in question that is for sale is an exceptional build. I followed Tim's build of his chassis #56 and he spared no expense. It is as close to an original Se7en concept (except for the drive train) as you will ever find down to the forward tilt of the FIA roll bar. You would not be throwing money away at $30K. He was meticulous in his assembly and execution.

I think he is wanting to finish his Cobra...Sell it and build another SuperStalker.

as a former Stalker builder, I will say a Stalker is an exceptional car. The SuperStalker even more so. I sold mine during the build and never finished, I had an early chassis that I had converted to a SuperStalker configuration. I sold the unbuilt car with most components to finish the build less drivetrain, in trade for a nice Europa. Later sold for low-teens. I have always felt mid-20's for a well built SuperStalker pays what the builder has into it with a tad bit for the labor.

I have seen Tim's Super Stalker, Tim has done a very nice job in building the car and added some options, one being the two heaters so the driver and passenger can control the heat to their liking. As you can see tin the photo's he also added the Cobra seats plus other items.
