Hi Gang,

Long time lurker here. I live and work on beautiful Maui and have been thinking of a Stalker or Superstalker or Birkin for quite some time. I lived in Japan for many years and raced motorcycles for a shop there. Raced everything from 250 two strokes up to unlimited superbike - I loved it !

It took me awhile to come to grips with autocross as I have raced on some of the nicest tracks in the world but when you are a racer you are a racer so I have been autocrossing here on Maui in my Mr2 Spyder. Cars are sooooo much easier than bikes :) When you goof on a bike it is followed by immediate financial and physical suffering - goof in a car and you get a wonderful cone scattering spin !

I run and sweat for a living so I cannot afford a very expensive car but I am interested in a car for under/around $20,000. Feel free to email me at jackdea@gol.com and let me know what is available. Keep in mind this will be my daily driver as well as my fun autocross car.

thanks

Jack-

Welcome (or at least, a semi-official welcome now that you're no longer just a lurker)!

I'm sure the Stalker faithful will be over to help soon, but I wanted to let you know that I've seen a Seven on Oahu...a Caterham I think. I think you could get a used stalker for about the $$ you are looking for, but the shipping fee might bump things up a bit.

Best of luck.

Thanks Al,

Tim W's Superstalker is sold as is Richard O'Brien's Stalker.

Anybody else out there selling?

Oh Man! I'm torn. I have a Super Stalker in Az and have always wanted to build another but also dont want to part with the one I have now. Would you entertain having one built for you? or are you looking to get one sooner than later? (I suspect the latter) Couple of images attached of my car. You'll love it when you get one.http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1332098486_High Right Oblique.jpghttp://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/15965317_Low Right Side View.JPG

As a former Stalker/SuperStalker owner, it might actually be the best car for Hawaii. (check local laws etc for road use) All of the parts are off the shelf GM and would be available at your parts stores. With the others a lot of parts if damaged, broken , or just adifferent set-up would add to runing costs with shipping. I am not sure what the current cost of the car is (I had #19 so it was cheap) but I would think if you wanted to do the build yourself, kit with shipping would easily be under $20K, not sure what the upcharge for the parts required to finish would be. Check with those guys I am sure something could be worked out.

Thanks John!

If the car is already registered in another state I don't think it would be a big deal to register it here.... heck you can put kids in the back of a pickup truck and ride a motorcycle with no helmet so a Stalker should be cake.....

i'm sure I can't build one - not a good mechanic at all - I used to do routine maintenance on my face machines but anything big the shop would always handle it. I usually end up with parts left over.....

Does Hawaii test for emissions? The Super Stalker ECU doesnt come with hookups for the downstream O2 sensor. I dont know if that invalidates readings or causes the emissions to go out of spec but that might be an issue. My county in Az doesnt require emissions testing but the county next door does. If you can get it registered as an antigue car, a lot of times you can get around that requirement. Also windshield wipers, seems trivial in the car but I've heard of cars that got turned away for lack of windshield wipers. I've also heard about issues with windshield and the materials used to construct them (LEXAN, plexiglass, glass, etc). Az had an online resource for the minimum requirements for a car to pass inspection and be registered. The Hawaii DMV site is here http://www.dmv.org/hi-hawaii/department-motor-vehicles.php.

Let me know if you want to consider having a car built for you. FWIW, I'd never done anything like build a car and I finished mine in about 9 months. As long as you understand how all the parts are supposed to work and interact with each other, the actual grunt work is fairly simple

Sell Jack yours (Its beautiful BTW). It will provide the incentive you need to build another. You probably have tons of little things you would do differently to make it better!

And, as a condition of sale, require that you be allowed to take your ex-Stalker for a spin any time you are in Hawaii. And, since it's my idea, I think I should have the same privilege:). I can't think of any better combination than Hawaii and a Seven.

Hey Gang,

I am still here and still looking for a Superstalker on or near the West Coast.

Does anyone know of any for sale out this way?

My price point remains the same but I do promise the car will be driven daily and raced with abandon on SCCA weekends.

Thanking you in advance for any information you may have.
