MoPho
Hello Morgan, Boy keeping my mouth shut for the past couple of days about your aquision of Al's car was tough. I am glad that you and Al were able to come to an agreement and that someone with the passion you have for cars is the new owner. Al so you know when you read this post Orange will be in good hands and well taken care of. When you head up to Mondo's realm you need to stop in Ventura and I will also get my car out and we can make a day of it also or you can just giv me a shout and we can explore the roads between Ventura and LA along the coast. It was neat to read Al's urgency to get orange out of the store display in NY knowing that you were going to be the next owner. Can only imagine how anxious you must now be until you have Orange in your garage. Yeah, pretty anxious for sure, I have to go to Korea for a shoot next week so that might help get my mind off it for a bit.
JBH
Welcome Morgan and congratulations! I have a very similarly equipped Superlight R, so if I can be of any help, let me know. I drive my regularly at tracks around the SE and it always rewards. I run Hoosier R6 for these events which I think is a very good choice given my somewhat limited selection with 13" wheels. I'm headed to Mid-Ohio with Chin for Memorial Day. Al...do tell me about these mods to the engine. where do I find out more?
MoPho
Thanks JBH So everyone on the Lotus forum had been asking me why I am selling my Lotus. So I finally showed them, and of course everyone is thrilled. This response from one of the locals cracked me up Sign ups for rides in Mopho's new car. 1. Knucklehead 2. Knucklehead 3. Knucklehead 4. Al N.
Al...do tell me about these mods to the engine. where do I find out more? Jeff, do you have the SVT or the regular Zetec motor? I forget...though I think it's the latter. There is some debate over the Ford Racing head vs. the Focus Sport/Cosworth head in terms of flow...but I was swayed to the side of the FR piece...it's new, for starters (as opposed to a donor-reconditioned piece by Cosworth)...it also comes with large valves in and out. If I were to do it, I'd use this outfit up near Carlisle...I have their info at my desk at work, will post on monday. They tune "all motor" zetecs for drag, so know a thing or two about optimization. roll a 7
FYI: The Ford Racing head has 33mm inlet valves; the Cosworth head has 33.5mm inlet valves and is NOT a "reworked" zetec head. It IS a fundamental new design which takes full advantage of Cosworth's extensive knowledge of air flow management. When Ford came to Cosworth to design a Cosworth SVT motor they realized that the stock head was not going to get it done and designed their own head. For more than 40 years when Ford wanted a serious racing motor they turned to Cosworth to do the heavy lifting. I have been told that the Ford Racing head was designed more for guys that want forced induction for drag racing applications.

Like I said, there's some debate...what are those exhaust valve measurements again? Also, there's no denying that the Cosworth head uses a recon'd head as a starting, as opposed to the FR head, which is new stock.
