running same size tires front and rear (bad idea?)

i just got a deal on some 235/40/17 falken rt615's with 6/32's tread left. right now i have 215/45/17 and 234/40/ 17 on the car using 17x7 wheels.

is it bad to use the same tire size front and rear? i was thinking it would be ok if i ran a higher tire pressure on the front then rear to offset the traction/over steer issues.

The local SCCA instructor (and he is really good) gave me some advice... he said use the same tires all around and use suspension / air pressure to tune.

Obviously I didn't listen, since I have a need to put some power down.

I have been running the same size tires front and rear on my Se7ens for as long as I have had them. The ability to rotate the tires and the cost advantages are important to me.

Runnnig RT615 tires, I have found that 20# front and rear is good for street use. I might go to a slightly lower pressure for track use.

If the tires will fit under your fenders, go for it.

non issue if the tyres fit. will make tyre maintenance easier as rotating them is easier than taking hem to be flipped. optimally u know what size works for the front and the rear, but mazdais right, u can fine tune the behavior.

so is cheap and so iz dem tyres!
