JohnCh
This guy built his own McLaren Can Am inspired car – from >scratch. He even hand formed the aluminum body. Unbelievable…

xflow7
That reminds me of another guy who's done the same for a Daytona Coupe: http://members.aol.com/COUPECHUCK/chassis.htm No updates on the page since test driving in '04, but I was always awestruck by the ambition of this project. I happened to run into Peter Brock at MidOhio a couple of years ago (he was there with his Superformance Coupe) and asked him if he was aware of this guy's project. He said he was and I guess he'd actually been in touch with him a couple of times to talk it over. He (Brock) was a really nice guy actually, and I was thrilled to have met him. slngsht
I have to go find the link - it was always hard to find active links to this one... Have you guys seen the french guy who built a completely working scale copy of a Ferrari? He cast his own pistons, block, tranny, etc... built his own rubber tires... everything. Every knob, light, pedal, etc... worked on it.
soareyes
Here is another scratch builder: www.dpcars.net Its track use only, but he also built a bike engined Westfield thats a good read too. In fact his whole site is a worthwhile read! Stan

JohnCh
I was in Portland on business a couple of weeks ago. On the way home I stopped by PIR to watch dp1's track debut and finally see the car in the flesh. Very impressive. -John
