Ian7
http://www.etamiya.com/shop/tamiya-10202-tamiya-112-caterham-super-seven-bdr-cycle-fender-out-of-stock-p-5175.html I have one of these that I spent 200+ hours building, it's beautiful. kit was about $400 at the time. It's no longer available; can it possibly be worth $3,800 as suggested in this link above ??? If so, make me an offer, seriously....
11Budlite
I think you are correct about them not being available anymore but I think $3800 is a bit much. I bought one of the BDR cycle fender specials many years ago for about $130 plus shipping from Japan. Still haven't done anything with it other than read the instructions. Could be one of my better investments! Bruce :7drive:
Ian7
Hi Bruce, From one who's done it, open those packages of parts at your peril. Once started, it becomes an obsession. The quality of the kit is so good that you'll never talk yourself in to any shortcuts, and evenings and weekends completely evaporate... I'm going to try to photo mine and post it. cheers Ian
Ian7
not the worlds most advanced camera, but here it is: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1159500186_caterham model.jpg
11Budlite
Looks nice Ian! I agree with you about the quality, it's very impressive. Someday when I don't have so many projects going on I'll start working on it. Did a quick search on eBay and there's a couple for sale from Japan: http://cgi.ebay.com/TAMIYA-CATERHAM-SUPER-SEVEN-BDR-CYCLE-FENDER-1-12-SCALE_W0QQitemZ140254677055QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116 http://cgi.ebay.com/TAMIYA-CATERHAM-SUPER-SEVEN-CYCLE-FENDER-1-12-SCALE-NIB_W0QQitemZ260294000021QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260294000021&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177 Bruce :7drive:
Ian7
Those prices are in line with what I recall mine costing back in the mid-90's. At $130, yours was a steal. Hope you get around to it. Cheers
Mandurath
I think you can order one built from a master builder for around a grand. As you said, with the quality of the model, its a piece of art.

Ian7
here's a guy who has one still in the box, about $400 to get it into the states... http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?Id=161349
solder_guy
Tell me about these kits. There's the Tamiya 1/12 of the Lotus Series 2 kit which sells on eBay for very little. 20406 Then there's the Tamiya 1/12 of the Caterham which sells for $$$. 10202 I might buy the cheap one off eBay just for fun! 11Budlite
Rob, If you meant 24046, then that's a 1/24 scale version with a lot less detail. I'm sure it'd still be fun to build. The 1/12 10202 model is very impressive in it's detail. Bruce :7drive:

fnmag58
i built one of these a few years back and i did so for a specific reason. My car came mostly disassembled and all the parts were just loaded into boxes. As i built the model, i sorted the parts boxes and got them organized. Really helped a lot when i started to reassemble the car. No I am not joking--the model really did help a lot.
Ian7
I built my model at a time when I was in love with 7's, but thought only an idiot would spend 30k on a 'car' like that... HA! I'm on my third now... :ack:
