Seems this turbo Se7en doesn't have any problem downshifting, boost lag, etc. :D

Bob, what is it?????? Details please!!! Never seen that one before. Looks like a potential BEC trike to me. I would love a R1 in the front with chain drive to the back. Russ

It's called a Buge. A neighborhood EV, but I'm lowering it 4", adding 50% more batteries, building my own frame/suspension, installing a 60kw DC motor, with a 0-60 of less than 5 seconds, and a top speed of 90 mph. If you told Mark Murphy (Bugev.net owner) that you were going to install an ICE he would never sell you one. Remember 1Sky/Symmetrical pay, etc.

 

If you do put a bike engine in it can I drive it? Hee Hee

Hey Bob you going to be in Carlisle this year? Are you going to have the Buge with you? I would like to see one of these things up close.

For me it's the experience that's most important. I think that the mainstream is beginning to understand that fossil fuels are not going to be used for daily commuter transportation forever. Anytime that electricity has competed with another source of power it has eventually won (we heat iron ore with it to make steel).

 

If you had a 6 mile commute to work and could use back roads, can you in vision a 3 wheeled vehicle that had loaded weighed 600 lbs, and had 150 ft pounds of torque, and cost 12 cents a day for that commute experience? Think of it as a super bike with a partial enclosure. In Northern Virginia it could be used about 9 months of the year. I do not subscribe to the man made global warming effect; however I think that all of us could benefit from watching http://WWW.storyofstuff.com .

 

Like MoPho I don't know what work is! I'm blessed with the ability to support myself by doing what I love.

 

As the owner of a repair shop I do shoulder the responsibility of charting the course of a business. I like the statement “what are we going to work on when the tail pipes are gone?"

I'm now actively involved in local groups like EVADC (electric vehicle DC) HACDC (brilliant minds that build robots for warring competitions, etc).

 

If you think that it would be of interest I am willing to bring what I have completed to Carlisle. I do not have a memory of a high performance electric car being there.

That's cool. I was looking at the BugE a few months ago. Stock as delivered in kit form it seems a little crude and maybe a little over priced, but still pretty functional. For those of us living in SoCal something like this is probably the perfect compromise for a commuter vehicle.

 

But at the moment I already have too many projects with a kit built plane that just made its first flight, a glider on the verge of first flight after a major overhaul, and the Ultralite S2K still under construction. The BugE could be my 2010 project so keep us posted.

I purchased a RV4 kit in 1994 and did about 200 hours of work on it, and then sold the kit. I agree that the Buge is a crude vehicle. That's why I only purchased the body and canopy for $2500.00. I can build a frame/suspension from scratch, but I don't want to get too involved in the fiberglass. Stock, the body is at about a 45deg angle. I,m lowering the seat to allow the canopy to be at about 10deg. The DC motor that I purchased is 50 hp, and that's a lot of electric motor.

My RV-4 took 13 years to get to first flight. Going with Mazda Rotary power had a lot to do with that though.

 

I'll be interested to see how you come along with the BugE. I think its a great concept and sure is different from everything else on the road. Let me know how it goes.

In 1995 I mailed a check to Evertt Hatch as a deposit for 1 of his engines. That never came to fruition. Evertt and I had many conversations for about 2 years, and you know the rest of the story.

Don't know how much intrest there would be in Carlisle but I was wondering that with the kit nature if your car or if the company themselves would be there. Your Seven would be better to bring but if there is room on the trailer...

I can answer that since I bought that car's brother.

 

Same setup but different tuning and color.

 

The hubs and diff are from a miata. The diff came from a 1.6 engine miata. But the previous owner broke the diff arms so he went with the beefier 1.8 unit and welded more support to the diff arms. (Note to self, don't clutch-drop start that car). And mine had "only" 300 hp at the wheel.

 

Can't say about the driveshaft, but it's probably a miata driveshaft that was modded.
