Flibbie
Just watched the Monaco GP race. This may be a historic, legendary track but with today's cars it makes for a VERY boring race to watch. Almost all passing was done when someone pitted. Indy lost my interest when they went with sole engine choice. Indy was where they always claimed "racing improves the cars and helps road cars". I guess all road cars need Honda engines. NASCAR (Not Any Stock Cars Are Racing) really blew it when they quit using STOCK cars. Then they really sucked when they designed their own cars. I think the majority of today's drivers don't have the cahones needed to drive cars from the 60's. My take on all of this is AERO. Get rid of AERO and get back to racing. Leave the AERO to the airplanes. Just my 2 cents. Jim
slngsht
i agree. the last F1 race I watched still had Senna in it. Big tires, big power.
pksurveyor
Our Seven cars do not have traction control, ABS, aero, paddle shift, and that fancy steering wheel with all those buttons and lights.
slngsht
yeah... back in the day, you'd have to start by jumping in the car. pretty fun to me.
Flibbie
I had the chance to meet Prost at the Honda plant in Ohio some years ago when he was so hot. Impressed me as a very nice guy. Sorry to say it wasn't the same with Senna. Really arrogant. Just my impression. Jim
slngsht
heh, funny you say that. when they went head to head, I always pulled for Prost - exactly for that reason. I really didn't appreciate Senna's unbelievable talent until after he was gone.
Flibbie
The problem I have with many sports is they allow arrogant 8astards to get away with crap. I could care less if a person is really good if they are worthless as a person. MacEnroe in tennis is a perfect example. Schumaker was allowed to bulldoze his way thru F-1 with no penalties. Earnhart is another. If he hadn't spent the last 3-4 laps trying to block so violently, he'd still be here. Jim
Hank
Our Seven cars do not have traction control, ABS, aero, paddle shift, and that fancy steering wheel with all those buttons and lights. I resent that paddle shift remark! The rest I agree with wholeheartedly.
DeanG
NASCAR = spec racing on oval tracks with a "shoot I'm a country boy aspect" as interesting as profession wrestling. Indy = spec racing on oval tracks F1 = money driven sport with big differences in $. Aero wall prevents passing. Street courses are the worst. No run off room makes kills racing. jlumba81
Watching the F1 race right now and there's a lot of passing considering its a race in Monaco. Sure there wasn't much passing in the top 3, but back in the pack there's a lot of position changes. But anyways looking forward to 2010 season when 2 USA teams enter F1. Mondo
For me, two wheel action is funner to watch... Motogp and World SuperBike are my favorites... WSB has the best battles so far (actually 250cc & supersport are even more exciting if they're on). I really miss World Rally as it hasn't been on Speed for a while now... though the Loeb as been winning for quite some time.
jlumba81
Ok having watched more of the Monaco race there hasn't been any passing once the gaps increased. There wasn't any safety car accidents to bunch them up. World Superbike has been pretty good this year. Its nice to see an american sit on pole. Don't know why but I like World Superbike better than AMA Primetime racing. Maybe the tracks are more interesting on WSB.

southwind25
Dean G is right.. We have some family/freinds that are nascar fans, and i feel sorry for them. They cant afford to go to a race anymore. They cant identify with the cars anymore and are loosing interest. same with indy.. thank goodness some women are driving to make for some good press. however,,i always enjoyed watching and crewing for races on street courses. i think they are very important.
