The roll bar on the se7en is some kind of flat mat black. recently after it gets wet, especially with the top on, the paint gets a terrible white blushing to it. cant get it out with cleaning, or armor all type stuff.. figure waxing it would make it worse.

yeah i should probably just take it off and paint it gloss black or something..

but afraid it would blush the same with the water and top on it..

ok it's not a big tech question, but the se7en is running great otherwise.

any suggestions?

no i cant afford to get it chromed.

Stripping and powder coating is probably a good idea. If you don't mind a little bling you can get it chromed for reasonable money.

I got a taller roll bar a while ago that was used and beat up. I took that to a local bike parts polish shop (one of these grimy garage places) and they stripped the paint, polished the steel, copper/nickel/chrome plated the whole thing for some 200 bucks. Admittedly a matter of taste, though....

If it is well chromed it will hold up to a lot of abuse. Just give it a wipe and it looks like new.

Hello Robert,

With my car the roll bar gets all kind of chips and nicks in it from me tossing the shoulder harness belts over the top of the bar. I usually take some 600 grit wet dry sand paper and smooth out the chips and then tape off the roll bar with blue masking tape and the Sunday newspaper and then get out a can of gloss black spray paint and apply a couple of thin coats on the bar until all the chips are gone. I guess I do this maybe three or four times a year just to keep it looking good but then I am a cheap person when it comes to paint as I feel if the paint cost as much as I make in a month then I would not enjoy my car as I feel one should enjoy a car so I have a supply of spray can paint for the two colors on my car School Bus Yellow and Gloss Black. Here is what it looks like and it only takes about an hour for me to do it when it needs it.
