I would say that it's an updated movie... but when you see the other cars there's really no excuse to not have a 7 in there (except for the sponsorship money I guess).

I understood the remake was set in NYC?

 

If so then I think it explains why the Subaru was used - common sense. One of the more frightening experiences I have had in a seven was driving through Times Square on a weekday at 5pm - I had every taxi changing lanes on top of me!
