BruceBowker Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 My wife just returned from England with a pair of half doors. Any tips or suggestion on installing them? Seems straight forward. Thanks Bruce
andrew7 Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Bruce, I made mine but here are a few bad photos to see how I mounted mine. http://www.usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=694 hope it helps.
BruceBowker Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 Thanks. Gives me some ideas. Bruce
southwind25 Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 ours just snap on to the original door snaps.. i should probably add one more snap on the front though.
BruceBowker Posted December 17, 2009 Author Posted December 17, 2009 Extra front snap sounds like a good idea. Thanks Bruce
locost7018 Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 When you guys use half doors how do you get in the se7en? Do you unsnap it and let it drop down or do you step over it? Russ
BruceBowker Posted December 18, 2009 Author Posted December 18, 2009 (edited) Mine won't be installed until summer. I am wondering the same thing. Guess I'll find out then. I am assuming I will need to unsnap the top few and let it fold down. Or I may be able to "jump" over it. I don't like the idea of using snaps too often though. Seems they break a lot. I really do not like driving with the full doors at all Bruce Edited December 19, 2009 by BruceBowker
Boxologist Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 unsnap all but the front or rear snap and rotate the 1/2 door up, scissor or lambo style.
pierats Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I just step over. The car is so low it's not a problem. If I had full cage then it would be much more difficult!
drew... Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Same here - the car is so low that we just step over the half doors. If you install the top or have installed the top the snaps should also fit the half doors. The rear snap on the half door can also be set-up to allow the roof tp be installed with the half doors.
locost7018 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Thanks guys. I'm a little short in the inseam so I guess it will be unsnap time. My se7en is different than almost all others in that the rear fender arches are flush with the interior. There is no step down to the fender for the door to seal against so I will have to put some sort of raised tab there for the snap to be mounted to. Russ
