Andy_013 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 (edited) Hello, my name is Andy and I'm a student at Kennesaw State. I also work at a local AutoZone part time. I'm a car enthusiast. I currently drive a civic with a few mods (coilovers and a few bolt ons). I live in a Loganville Ga (1/2way between Atlanta and Athens). I'm kind of a poser because unlike most people on here, I bought the car already put together. The car is a road legal Lotus Super 7 clone with a Mazda RX-3 12A rotary engine. The car was a one-off that was built in year 2000 for hill climbs but has been used exclusively for autocross. Edited March 9, 2010 by Andy_013
slngsht Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 actually on this site, i'd say we have about 20% who built their own car, probably another 30% who assembled a kit. The rest are purchased. Welcome aboard.
Spaz Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Welcome, My old baby before my purchased 7 was a 1991 Honda CRX with a B16 swap. Just because you buy it does not mean you can't improve/change it.
Mondo Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Nice to have another new member, welcome. No shame in purchasing a built car.... usually has the bugs worked out. And if you don't have space... or time... or patience... or skill.... you get why I bought it already built;) Dont' worry, there's always something to tinker on with these cars.
solder_guy Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 (edited) Welcome Andy! I live near I-85 exit 91 - Clairmont Road. I've got a Rotus 7 that I rebuilt .. and there's a Locost at Georgia Tech: www.gatechlocost.com Look forward to meeting you and seeing your car! Watch for events listed in the Southeast section .. powderbrake Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Welcome Andy. Glad to have another Seven owner on the forum. Nice car, I like those wheels, what brand are they?
TheDingo8MyBaby Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 (edited) Welcome Andy, Unless you're over 6ft6, you shouldn't have a problem with roll bar clearance.. I cant get over how close the front wheels are to the clam fenders. . How much clearance do you have? I imagine the front suspension is pretty stiff. Edited March 10, 2010 by TheDingo8MyBaby
athens7 Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 (edited) If you want to autocross your car, the next Atlanta Region SCCA event is Sunday March 28th at the Turner Field Green Lot. Our class will run in the morning if you want to run D Modified. If you are new to autocross, ARSCCA has an excellent novice program that runs in the afternoon. Registration information is available at http://www.soloatlanta.com http://www.MotorsportReg.com Welcome! Edited March 12, 2010 by athens7 wrong event date listed

If you were in town for Import Alliance, that would be an awesome roll out from gwinnett. powderbrake said: Welcome Andy. Glad to have another Seven owner on the forum. The suspension, believe it or not its softer then my civic. athens7 said: If you want to autocross your car, the next Atlanta Region SCCA event is Sunday March 21st at the Turner Field Green Lot. solder_guy Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) Andy and Brad: You should try to get to the www.gatechautoshow.com on Saturday April 4th. The deadline for registering your car is midnight on Wednesday, March 29. The registration fee is not required .. but I will pay it. I will be there with my Rotus Seven .. and Andrew will be there with his Locost (his car has won awards each of the last two years). I will be out of town on the day of the Import Alliance .. I will try to slip down to Turner Field .. if I am not too tired after working the previous night. Andy: If you don't mind me asking .. which Autozone do you work at? I may surprise you someday .. athens7 Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Rob, Saturdays are work days for me. Sunday is the only day I could make an event. I miss a lot of neat stuff due to work-but, then again, work is what got me my car!
