southwind25
Had a wonderful easter weekend except... As we got in the se7en to back it out, i could not get it in reverse! It was acting as if the reverse was locked out. doesnt matter if the car is running or not. It was working fine when i parked it last fall. All 5 forward gears work fine. (yes we took it out for the weekend anyways). The tranny has only 9.5k miles on it's rebuild. The shifter simply will not move into position and acts as if something is stopping it from moving into reverse. any suggestions? (any suggestions without pulling it all out??) ((yes we are already just pushing it backwards when needed)) Robert Kansa
Mike Rohaley
Did you remove the upper cover at all? There is a keyway built into it that will keep the shifter from moving properly without it. Edited April 5, 2010 by Mike Rohaley

athens7
I've noticed my car's shift into 3rd, up or down, can be balky at times (more when cold). Also, on occasion the shift into first from neutral can be balky. No grinding, no feeling of teeth, just a stop before the gear is engaged. I have had the top cover removed to install a fill/check plug. Is there any adjustment in the shifter mechanism or cover that might affect this issue?
