breezy7
I just gone done with a bit of polishing on my Caterham. I use Nuvite polish and when I bought the latest jar I also got a bottle of their cleaner for polished metal. It is called Nuvite NuImage, and is designed to remove bugs and oil from polished metal and leave a film to make future cleanups easier. I can't vouch for that part of the claim yet but was impressed how it gets the last bit of polish out of all the stone nicks in the side body panels. Normally I end up rubbing like crazy to get the nicks cleaned up. It also made quick work of cleaning the crud off the rear fender stoneguards. It runs about $16 for a 16 ounce size. Here is a link if anyone is interested.http://www.nuvitechemical.com/Products.asp?ProductID=2 Mike

Dave W
You can buy a gallon of acetone for less and it will clean the black aluminum oxide off the surface in a flash. just used good rubber gloves and be careful not to get it on other surfaces. TonyI
When I was at Oshkosh a few years ago I talked to a guy that won grand champion on a little cessna he has way more to polish than we do.. He uses purple sparkle glass cleaner(no amonia) and seals it with glass wax(its a liquid). That's what I use after I do the polish/rubout. And the purple sparkle doesn't attack plastic, paint etc... If a guy does his wings(top/bottom), fuselage, and tail feathers....I'll roll with his method for the vast amount we have..LOL Tony
slomove
I can endorse the glass cleaner method. I use the cheap foaming glass cleaner from CostCo in the blue spray can with good effect. But it only works with some polishes like Mother's that seem to have a water soluble base. I tried other polishes like Belgom or Neverdull that are more oily and don't wash off the residue easily with water or window cleaner.

TonyI
Don't use anything with ammonia in it or citrius (lemon simple green, etc.) if it gets in behind the rivets or between two panels you could get corrosion. Went to a forum at Oshkosh(warbird area exhaust stain removal) they compared ez-off oven cleaner to lemon simple green and the ez-off was less corrosive on aluminum.( If it sits and stays wet like a lap joint or your rims and tires.)
