Ruadhd2
Looking to talk to another Rotus owner who has a "factory" top. How dumb a design can you get? The top frame members don't fit in the boot. If you want to stick your top in the boot for a possible rainy day you will have to stuff the aluminum top members in the passenger seat or cut them in half or something. How have you dealt with it? Thinking of cutting them in half and using a dowel to stick inside them when erecting the top, otherwise the top stays home and we pray for no rain. Solutions? 11Budlite
"Thinking of cutting them in half and using a dowel to stick inside them when erecting the top" - I don't have a Rotus but that's exactly how my Birkin top frame is made. The aluminum dowel is riveted to one of the halves so it stays permanently attached, and the frame is small enough to fit in the boot.

solder_guy
I actually have two Rotus tops .. one worn original and another new in box .. but I have never used either .. Actually my nephew and I did get caught in a brief sprinkle and brief rain yesterday .. used the windshield wipers for the first time .. but we got out of it really quickly. When we got to our destination, we pulled out the passenger compartment cover (Walker St. Clair) which kept everything dry while we hiked around the Etowah Indian Mounds north of Atlanta. That is how I made the top bows for a 1959 Berkeley which I had, which allowed me to put the pieces in the "trunk" One side of the dowel was fastened to one side of the top bow.
